Hi, I have a little girl whos
2 and half week old and I am just looking for done advice on if I am doing things right? For example my little girl will wake up say 5pm and she will tske about 1.5-2oz and then fall back asleep, I will change her bum and this eskes hers up so she will sit and look around and I will talk to her, then after about 20-30 minutes she starts rooting and squirming and will take another 1-1.5 oz till she falls asleep. Does this sound about right? I feel like I've only just fed her and she's asking got more?

A lot of tiny babies have a feeding frenzy in the evening. They're stoking up for their longest sleep (we hope.)

I forgot to mention this is how she is throughout the whole day and I'm not sure she's having to much milk or an I setting myself up for s bad routine? Xx

She's feeding as and when she needs to because she doesn't know about routines. I used to change my babies' bums halfway through a feed as they got sleepy.

I wouldn’t worry too much about routines just yet, she’s still so tiny! Just carry on as you are and feed her when she’s hungry and then a routine will sort itself out as she gets bigger.

MustardScreams · 18/09/2019 19:15

Do t worry about routines or patterns yet, she still doesn’t know she’s not inside of you yet, so day and night mean nothing.

Feed when hungry, sleep when tired, change when dirty. Cuddle lots! Congratulations Smile

Sounds about right so far, little and often. Mine were roughly every two hours and had 2-3 ounces when they were tiny tiny

It's really great to feed on demand. It helps them to self regulate their hunger. And will lead to a much happier baby. You are doing wonderful! It is a lot of work when bottle feeding as you have so many bottles to wash and sterilise. But it's so worth it. Keep going eventually your baby will settle into their own routine and go longer between feeds!

Sounds about right. A lot of babies have half a feed, a nappy change, and then the rest. 1.5-2oz probably isn’t enough for her on its own so I would probably just offer the next lot of milk as soon as you’ve changed her and given her a bit of a burp as she’ll definitely want/need it.

Thesearmsofmine · 18/09/2019 19:18

Congratulations on your new baby 💕

Follow her lead, let her feed when hungry and sleep when sleepy. She will soon settle into her own pattern.

Congratulations! I feel quite emotional that I have a massive 5 month old now. He did the same at that age, now he guzzles 8oz every 3 and a bit hours in the day and goes to bed, nearly sleeping through each night. And I haven’t really done anything much to make this happen. So, basically just feed her when she wants and the fact that she’s hungry in the evening is probably a good sign for things to come. I always think the more they drink in the day, the less they’ll want at night Smile

All normal at that age they feed on demand as they have small tums

Bellsofstclements · 18/09/2019 22:38

The frequent feeding is normal. Why are you changing her nappy when she's asleep? Why don't you do it first before her feed then if she nods off you can hopefully slip away for a coffee/nap/loo break or at least grab the remote!

Bellsofstclements · 18/09/2019 22:38

And congratulations!Flowers
