Time saving tips for baby / preschool kids

Hi all
I have a 5 month old and 3 year old .... and surprise, surprise there just aren't enough hours in the day.
Please could you post me some of your tried and tested time saving tips.
Here are some of mine:

  1. Don't use fiddly ice cubes for baby pureed food - use a yogurt pot for a whole single meal and freeze.
  2. Don't do main course and pudding for babies - do the main course as lunch and the pudding as tea in appropriately sized portions.
  3. Get separate clear washbags and lable them "hot" and "cold" etc. "Hot" contains sunhats, suncream your sunglasses, "cold" contains poncho, thick hats etc. Saves packing up the individual items each time.
  4. Put your baby in babygro jersey material trousers and tops. They can then wear this for 24hrs and look "dressed" but also be comfortable to sleep in. Saves that morning "getting dressed" thing - the only time clothes are changed is after evening bath. Please, please add your time saving tips to this list! Many thanks Cazzzz

cazzz - I only have one so am in awe of your multibaby skills!! Does your 3 year old help you with the 5 month old?

With ds I always try and involve him in every task I do - so much easier to keep him occupied.
Also I always have a bag made up incase I want to go out (with a nappy/wipes in and so one)

I am sure there are mums with older children that will pass on their expert knowledge!!

Ok, wipes, nappies, cream and nappy sacks both upstairs and downstairs and easily accessible.

Same with my own deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush, hairbrush etc. Keep duplicate sets in upstairs bathroom and downstairs loo/cloakroom. If you haven't got a downstairs loo, find space in a kitchen cupboard. I got fed up with getting to lunchtime and realising I hadn't had time to brush my own teeth etc!

If you have a dh, dp or other family member/friend, get them to look after/take out children while you have a "cookfest". Did this last week, making vast quantities of ragu sauce, shepherds pie, chicken & broccoli bake etc. Put into individual freezer portions, load up freezer. Saves cooking an evening meal, just defrost and reheat.

Bit obvious, but safety catches on absolutely any cupboards/draws at toddler height. Even if contents of cupboard are safe, it gets mighty boring and time consuming putting them back repeatedly.

Wasn't sure what time ds1 got me up last night, now I know!
