Toddler eczma

Well I think it is, not sure. Psych if red under nose, had it for around 5/6weeks now. They prescribed wrong cream at Dr's, but steroid worked. Used it for a week and stopped as it had gone. As soon as stopped steroid the exact same patch has come back. It's just one patch, nothing else. Obviously don't want to keep using steroid on face. Will ring Dr's for advice tomorrow, but wondered if anyone experienced something similar?

I have a lot of eczema experience. I would advise using the steroid cream, continue using for 3 days after skin looks healed (as the under lying layers of skin will still be inflamed) and then weaning off the cream. So every other day for a few days, then every 2 days for a few days and then stop.

Thanks @Kingtiger101 I guess I just thought once it had gone to stop using as my toddler is only 20 months and was worried about effect on skin. It's 0.5 which I believe it is mildest and your post does seem to make sense. To be honest I'm not even sure it is eczma.

I was told once you get it "healed" to then use an emollient to keep the skin in good condition and prevent it from home back. I feel my DS has a bigger skincare routine than I do.

I suppose it’s inflamed red skin which is what eczema is but it doesn’t mean he has an ongoing problem with eczema. The important thing is that the cream helped! I wouldn’t worry about using the cream on his face as it’s not for long and it’s a mild amount.
Yes good idea from pp to use an emollient as well. I like Aveeno.

I've been using sudocrem or e45. I don't really know which one is best. Thanks all for your advice

Sudocream and e45 are are terrible for my lb eczema. Try aveeno

AnnaMagnani · 16/09/2019 07:34

Both sudocream and E45 are dreadful. Sudocream is drying and e45 is the mildest emollient there is.

Aveeno is a much better idea.

rubyroot · 16/09/2019 07:40

Thank you @AnnaMagnani I'll get some. Is it just the normal aveeno baby stuff?

Thanks @elf1985 too. As you can see I don't know what I'm doing.

My DD (10 months) suffers from eczema, we found that the Aveeno made it worse. Doctor recommended Epaderm which seems to be keeping most of it at bay.

katy80 · 16/09/2019 07:48

Epaderm cream that is!
