fleece wraps - do they work?

Hi

I've just received some tots bots fleece wraps for newborn that I bought 2nd hand. Bit confused about how they work? Surely the wee will leak through or I'll have to change the wrap every time I change a nappy?

It's my first baby (can you tell?!) so bit confused about this cloth nappy lark but I'm willing to give it a try! We'll be using terry squares if this makes a difference?

Thanks,
ziggy xx

I use a Minki fleece wrap at night and it has never leaked. It needs washing regularly though as it gets a bit smelly!

gringottsgoblin · 09/08/2007 17:06

apparently you should not use them under tight clothes as this will make them leak. i use mine at night and have never had a problem, tho they do smell a bit by morning if he has had a busy night. i also use fleece liners and they are brill for keeping skin dry. no idea why they work, am just not questioning it

I use the tots bots fleece at night time.... they are fab! they wick moisture so the heat from your babies skin makes moisture evaporate through the fleece fabric. I wash mine after each night but they dry in no time at all xxx

Great, I'll just accept that they work and not worry about how! I'll be using fleece liners so that should help.

Thanks!

Just so you know - red tots ones are thicker and work better than the stripes or spots

nappyzone · 09/08/2007 20:44

shes good... i had a tenner on her comming out with the wool addiction.... 10/10 for restraint!

FlameBatfink · 09/08/2007 21:14

Nah, suck em in with the wraps they already have, THEN hit with the wool.

nappyzone · 09/08/2007 21:26

crazy wool woman!

FlameBatfink · 09/08/2007 21:46

Just try it.... you know you want to.... all the cool kids are doing it....

nappyzone · 09/08/2007 21:52

oh your funny too! tell me - in fact place a link to some cool and reliable wool i cannot resist - budget is £12!

FlameBatfink · 09/08/2007 22:03

Decent nice wool you won't get for that... the one you would like the most is the sugar peas because it is the most like a pocket!!

most "normal" looking but still reliable.

Seahorse Slacks are my most used now though - really thick, soft n snuggly.

Ooh or the trousers... they might be in my profile.

FlameBatfink · 09/08/2007 22:04

Yes - the scooby doo pics down the bottom are wool trousers.

pamplemousse · 09/08/2007 22:14

Ooh lovely woolly wraps there! Just had to say ;)

nappyzone · 09/08/2007 22:17

i liked the sugar peas i do and then the next ones i liked alot for the funky stripes but then i got to the 'wool care' bit and it killed the idea for me - now those trouser things - they are just like a pair of trousers my old teddy monkey would have worn lol!!! Would your sugar snap last a night with just that foldy thing in it - have you trialed them overnight as they come? Do you offer a lanolising service - you should...

FlameBatfink · 09/08/2007 22:21

There's not a great deal of point in the lanolising service because it needs to be a regular thing. It is sooooo easy though - it just sounds hard.

The trousers make him look like a little old man

Not done the sugarpeas overnight - can't see it working well though, the wrap is too slim cut for enough boostering.

He's in disposables atm whilst I finished getting the powder stripped from his nappies because he was reacting, and now I'm using up the pack because he uses them so rarely. Although... DH is taking them away soon and it might be less stress to just send him with them

nappyzone · 09/08/2007 22:29

mine is in (whispers more) paper pants too as despite doing a nice roll off poo before dinner after his scrambled egg at luchtime he blew his botty away with a slop job - in a car seat aswell - urghh! proceeded by 2 more after milk and tea so we were running low (again). I will have to monitor his food as hes had the squitters about 3 times this month - it cant be my cooking !! lol!
