15 month old and her 'lost words'

My 15m old DD only says Hiya, Hello and Daddy regularly..

However she has said the following words very clearly a few times and then never again
Mummy (she said this for about a week)
Nanny
Grandad
Bye
Night night
Thank you
Love you
Her own name
And maybe some more that I've forgotten about.

She's a verrrry chatty girl though, just only in her own cute little language! You can tell she's trying to say something as she will repeat 'sentences' in her own golly golly way.

Is this normal for them to do this?

Yes, it is normal. And it's also normal for parents to hear their child saying thing, which they actually never said, when they were just babbling along Wink

@SmartPlay haha I know what you meant but she definitely said the above words for real!

She says lots of things that sound like real words like "wooow what's that" and "go away" but I don't think she's meaning to say it.

Does she repeat stuff from tv/songs etc?

So totally normal. Often they'll start talking and then prioritise a different skill for a little bit, only to go back to chatting again.

My son was about 20 months when he really started coming out with proper words, and at 3 he can speak in 10 word sentences. But whenever he's going through a leap or development stage I notice his language gets a bit stilted for a while.

Yes, it’s really normal for them to say things and not again for a long time. I think that’s quite a lot of words for a 15 month old anyway. You’ll probably see a leap in a few months when they all come back.
