When does cuddling resume?

When our son was born we a wonderful period where you could sit down for a cuddle and he'd rest in your arms and it was so relaxing.

Now from about 4 months on (he's 7 months now) he's become a wriggly, grabby little terror. It's incredibly cute, funny and endearing but I sometimes wish we could sit for just two minutes without being treated like an adventure playground. Now he's started crawling and pulling himself up it's moved to a new level of don't take your eyes off him for a second.

For those of you with high energy babies was there a point where you might get a relaxed 15 minute cuddle on the sofa? When did it happen?

Around 11 or 12 months I think! My daughter is 15 months old now and absolutely loves having a cuddle! It's the best 😍

I feel you op, my boy is 7 months too and exactly the same. For me it's winding down time with some milk and teletubbies where hell sit snuggled and sometimes even fall asleep with me. But apart from that...nope.

@sirmione16

I had forgotten to consider that. His last feed before bed where we lie down and he goes to sleep can sometimes be pretty relaxing (depending on what mood he's in).

The closest I get to a cuddle now is when he's sitting playing with a toy and I lie next to him. It usually goes like this.

DS: Drops toy, looks at me. Opens mouth (this is very important to him) and lunges forward grabbing whatever is convenient (usually beard, hair, eyes).

Me: Try to protect soft squishy parts while encouraging darling child.

DS: Pulls himself up onto his feet and then screams in triumph

Me: Wonders what his next plan is

DS: Tries to haul himself over me and usually ends up upside down or sitting back on his bottom

Sounds familiar. For me it's usually a case of him being held cradled in my lap one hand under him the other holding his bottle, I'm all gushing like aw how sweet for this 5 seconds. Suddenly his heads thrown backwards, back arched like someone summoned an exorcism, then rolling any which way but usual preference is towards edge of sofa or bed. Queue me trying to grab any flailing limb or dungaree strap to prevent -another- fall. Success rate is not 100% however the other day I just caught him by his ankle and managed to lower him down which he found hilarious. So improvements are being made.

About 15 months maybe? They are lovely cuddles though because DS wants to have them. Not so keen on his full on open mouth kisses though.
