Presents for school friends

I've generally been spending around £5 on presents for children whose birthday party my daughter has been invited to. My daughter is 6 so she gets invited to a lot of parties as kids in the early years tend to invite half the class if not more! On that note, I would struggle financially to spend more on each present as there's always so many to get.

I've noticed some parents spend a lot more than this. Am I being tight? I generally try and find a bargain that has been reduced, so the child is still getting something substantial. Often craft activities. However, for a party next weekend for a child turning 7, I currently have a book, which I got for £4. Is that enough? Should I throw something else in? If so, what? I'm quite strapped for cash so can't afford too much more.

All opinions and ideas welcome!

If money is tight for you then £4 on a carefully chosen gift is absolutely fine.

I normally spend £10.00. More if it's a friends child. If your on a tight budget then just get a bag of sweets to make it up to a fiver.
