Baby groups, did you take your baby?

I’m a FTM and I’m wanting to take my baby to a few groups around my area. I’m just a bit worried that about the timings of the classes won’t work with feeding/napping etc as currently he doesn’t really do this at the same time each day. (He’ll be 10 weeks old on Tuesday) what are your experiences of this? I’m worried people may be judgemental if he wants to feed or nap 😬🤦🏼‍♀️

In my experience there’s almost always at least one baby napping or feeding in a baby class!

Just let him feed or nap as needed - baby groups are really for parents, not babies. I did a baby massage class when my son was three to four months and we only managed one out of six actually doing massage 😆

I didn’t do them for that reason. I didn’t want to disrupt feeding/napping times

Hi I was the same when my LO was younger It was when she was about 5 months we started regularly going to classes only because we would plan to go and she would be asleep before we even left as at times some of the classes were so early or really late in the afternoon, but normally at the groups we would go to a LO would be being fed or would be having a sleep half way through.

We've always taken DS and he feeds when he's hungry and if he's tired he sleeps (usually in the pushchair on the way there or back). I worried being isolated if I didn't go to any groups. DS doesn't seem to have suffered at all and can nap through pretty much anything now!

GVmama · 31/08/2019 19:38

If your baby is happy to nap and feed anywhere then I would go to the groups. They sleep and feed so regularly at that age. I run a baby/ toddler group and there’s often babies sleeping and feeding, breastfeeding or bottle. It’s all fine!

I think they come into their own for children around a year old, but before then if you need them for your sanity/getting out of house purposes then go for it, otherwise don’t.

I went from my daughter being 6 weeks old, as much for my sanity as anything! The one I went to was called Hartbeeps and they had these lovely little mats so when she wanted a sleep I'd just pop her down on them and leave her to it!

We used to do a couple of classes per week - less emphasis on having to chat than a baby group. My DS once slept through the entire hour of Baby Sensory.

By about 6 months he was fully engaged and best of all would sleep straight afterwards for his best nap of the week!

My son always napped & fed during classes so don’t worry, totally normal! You won’t be the only one

Thanks everyone, I’ve booked on for a taster session for baby yoga - see how that goes.

I did baby yoga, lots of babies snoozes or mums had a break to feed or soothe. We had ladies who would be late and only make the last 20mins but that's fine too. All goes with the territory of having small babies.

Enjoy and it really doesn't matter if you dont get to do any of the class.

Getting up, dressed and out can just make you feel good 💐💐
