Hi,
so my 13 mo DD is teething and im pretty sure its her back teeth coming through, she has all of her main front ones. Anyway... its making my life a living hell might be a bit dramatic but i feel like headbutting the wall and DD is in agony. I have tried Calpol, ashtons and parsons powder, bonjella, teething toys (she throws them in frusration because shes in so much pain), ive put her dummys i the freezer and nothing is helping her. She is hysterically crying ALL day and ahe is not usually a crier. I dont know what else to do, i feel so sorry for her i hate seeing her in pain and im also exhausted as she is crying all day and night, ive had no sleep. Any advice/recommendations to help ease the pain for her ane calm her down? Sad

Anbesol liquid. You have to ask the chemist for it as it's kept behind the counter, but you don't need a prescription.

@ForeverBubblegum Thank you ill get some today. Can they still have calpol with that too?

Yes can take Calpol as no paracetamol in anbesol. It's a liquid containing a numbing agent, lidocaine I think.

Maybe try a damp washcloth kept in the freezer in a zip loc bag. Babies like to bite down and rub their guns on the Terry towelling.

Good luck and hope your lo comes through it soon.

ForeverBubblegum · 30/08/2019 10:05

Yes, you rub it onto the gums, and it contains a mild local anesthetic that numbs the area for 15-20 minutes.

Not a long term solution but for DS it was great to have that pain free window to get him to eat or go to sleep.

Neurofen for children seems to be better than calpol and can be taken with calpol if necessary.

Ilovechocolate01 · 30/08/2019 10:25

Definitely anbesol and also try nurofen as it's an anti inflammatory. If she's in a lot of pain you can alternate calpol and nurofen for a short period of time

Will definately get some anbesol today thank you everyone! I actually have some nurofen in the cupboard for her but have nevwr actually gave her it before. I gave her calpol two hours ago so ill check when i can give her some nurofen. Her stomach is really upset and her bums bright red as well due to having an upset stomach. Feel so sorry for her!Sadwill definately put a cloth in the freezer never thought of that!! thank you x

If she’s really suffering you could give calpol and ibuprofen at 2hourly intervals so she has some form of pain relief every 2 hours and the ambesol liquid is fab. Also if her bottom is sore put rolled oats in an old sock and leave in to soak in the bath with her this helped my daughter. Good luck and I feel your pain xxx
