We always used a Happy Nappy. They lasted well and didn't fade.

Totsbots lasts all the way through as it is velcro adjustable.

I second tots bots, been a great swim nappy.

Thank you. Do you still need to use a liner for a swim nappy?

Nope, you could use a fleece one if you wanted but I don't bother. I wouldn't use anything paper based as it would disintegrate.

MadeinBelfast · 29/08/2019 11:24

Some pools require you to use a disposable under the swim nappy too

SmartPlay · 29/08/2019 13:08

"Some pools require you to use a disposable under the swim nappy too"

Seriously? What's the point in that?

Caterina99 · 29/08/2019 20:33

I personally prefer to use a disposable underneath. Attempting to change a pooey reusable swim nappy on a wet wriggly child was a very unpleasant experience. Having both on gives 2 layers of protection

Tigerwhocamefortea · 29/08/2019 20:36

I’ve used 4 different swim schools and all have required a disposable swim nappy underneath a happy nappy.

SmartPlay · 29/08/2019 20:42

"I’ve used 4 different swim schools and all have required a disposable swim nappy underneath a happy nappy."

That's completely stupid and pointless. Personally I wouldn't book with someone who make such unnecessary demands.

Indecisivelurcher · 29/08/2019 21:14

I thought it was more that you had to have a double nappy, not that the one underneath had to be disposable. I used bambino mio I think they're called under, with a happy nappy neoprene one over the top. The point is to double bag, I think.

Tots Bots underneath a Happy Nappy

HighwayCat · 29/08/2019 21:23

It’s having a double nappy to make sure nothing leaks, as poo in the pool means it has to be cleaned. Also, if you use a disposable swim nappy you can just dry it out and reuse it if they haven’t poo’d (which they rarely do when swimming). You can use the same disposable nappy for months!

Teachermaths · 29/08/2019 21:33

Ours ask for a double nappy, ie totsbots under the happy nappy. I thought the happy nappies were more of a swimsuit than a nappy anyway?

Totsbots was fine with a poo in, but I am used to cloth nappies.

Lazypuppy · 29/08/2019 21:36

Double nappy at our leisure centre, one of which must be a happy nappy.

Same when we boooed onto waterbabies

SmartPlay · 30/08/2019 08:46

Okay, double nappy makes a bit more sense than being forced to use a reuseable one. Even though it's quite unnecessary, since proper swim nappies hold the poo very well ... that's what they are designed for.

sewinginscotland · 30/08/2019 21:32

I use a bambino mio, but haven't had a poo situation yet. My swim class calls for a neoprene nappy over the top (I use a happy nappy), but I don't bother when I take him to the local pool. I don't use a liner for it.
