Separation anxiety?

Hi everyone 👋

I just wondered if there are any experienced mums out there that might be able to shed some light on what is happened with my DD?

I'm so lucky that my DD is such a happy and content little baby - she's so social, smiley and happy! She's just turned 8 months.

This week she has been a different child - temperamental, irritable & everything seems to make her cry. It really peaked last night and she cried all night (she usually only wakes once)! We have both had no sleep and no matter how much I reassured her, fed her, calpol/nurofen, teething gel - she was absolutely inconsolable.

She seemed shattered but just couldn't switch off, she ended up vommiting from crying so much - I had her with me the whole time just cuddling and reassuring her. I rang NHS direct I was so worried and she was seen by the Gp this morning - who wouldn't find any physical symptoms & said she thinks it could be teething /developmental.

Shes been much more clingy, tired etc. She had gone to two naps, but now accepting 3 again as she is so tired! She usually wakes from her naps so sweet and happy, but now she's distressed and crying on waking up
It just seems so extreme! Has anyone else experienced this with their littles?

I'm a first time mum, so any advice on how to get through this with as little stress as possible would be greatly received!

8 months is peak separation anxiety time. And teething gels are pretty crap as they just slide off the gums. Try Ashton and a Parsons powders, anbesol liquid and lots of cuddles. Co-sleeping can help.

It’s a phase, and it will pass. Be kind to both of you.
