Drone flying over children's playground -- odd?

I took my dd to the park last night. It's in a countrified but residential area. It was quite late - 6.30pm and not many other kids were around (maybe 3/4) A drone was flying directly over the park for some time.

I didn't think anything of it but my partner says I should report it to 111. He said it could be a pedophile.

The reason I didn't worry about it was that my dd's cousin who is 11 has his own drone as a hobby so I thought it was just kids.

Should I say anything or forget it?

I'd say something. Maybe not for keeping to the conclusion of a pedo but because it is dangerous to fly them over people, if it had been a field or something I wouldn't have been so concerned. I believe they would require a licence if it was above a certain weight so if it was a large one there is that to consider.

The trouble with drones is they are so easy to fly they can be flown by any idiot. They are currently unlicensed though this is planned to change.

Radio controlled planes / helicopters have generally been done in clubs so the more experienced can teach the less experienced. They have needed club membership and BMFA insurance, and have had rules about where they can fly. They have testing exams etc.

Presumably you are worried about photos rather than anything else such as the drone crashing into your children and severely injuring them? Not all drones have cameras.

I`d forget it unless it becomes regular.

My concern is mostly that it could possibly be someone looking at the park to see who is there. At that time of the evening they could be looking for a child who may regularly go there alone without a parent.
