What does your three year old play with?

Dd is three at the end of this month and I have no idea what to buy her for her birthday. When I ask she doesn’t have any requests either.
We have a big family so she already has a few big items- play kitchen, rocking horse, bike, sand pit, dolls pram, ball pool. Lots of play doh.
My parents have already bought her a dolls house and little people.
Can anyone suggest s present that will get lots of use please? I am at a bit of a loss.

Thanks

Mine loves a doctor set at the moment! I love it too because I get to lie down and be the patient.

😄 @HonniBee
How about a micro scooter? My lb loves his. Was about to say balance bike but you mentioned a bike. A slide or a playhouse if you have the space? A teepee tent or indoor playhouse, an easel/ drawing table. New books?
All things my 3 year old loves doing, that and his toy kitchen

Oh and I’ve seen these unicorns/horses that you sit on and they move when you pedal. They look like fun! Think they’re quite pricey though

An easel went down well at that age with dd as did some slightly posher crayons and chalk for the chalk board.

Scooter is also a good shout.

I have two children and they are now outgrowing their three year old toys, I was thinking only today that so much of it is wasted, eg just not played with enough, and how the few hundred pounds spent by well meaning grandparents and aunts would have been much better use when they are older I'd put in their bank accounts. Sorry that doesn't really answer your question, but to do so, art and craft materials, scissors, a little art set eg paper to cut and pva glue to stick, colouring pencils (pencils better than lens as not as messy but also strengthen hands ready for writing) paint brushes (as someone else said- an easel) sellotape dispenser and endless rolls of sellotape, etc or alternatively look at simple toys like grimms eg wooden blocks, people which allow open ended play. (Grimms are expensive but similar ideas available elsewhere and good for inspiration)

Shooter could be a good idea but she does tend to get half way around the park and want to walk. Which is off putting.
We have a slide in our postage stamp sized garden.

I had thought of a teepee tent or easel.
Thank you there are some nice ideas. Please keep them coming. Nothing has quite inspired me yet.

Thanks red part of me knows not to spend much but she is very aware that it is her birthday soon and I would love to be able to think of something that she will really love.
I don’t feel like I’ve managed it yet with any of her birthday/ Christmas presents.

Dd has a easel it gets played with a lot.
Tea set is also a hit, although I've had to spend hours drinking water out the teapot😂
Dressing up clothes are also popular in this house.

EdtheBear · 24/08/2019 15:56

Op I think you have everything covered.

How would your parents feel about sharing the dolls house, or then giving the house, you the people and accessories, with the savings going into her bank account?

Christmas is just round the corner and it's so easy to go over board with stuff. I also find it depressing to be clearing out 100's of pounds worth of stuff.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 24/08/2019 15:58

Magnatiles!

BeanBag7 · 24/08/2019 16:00

Playmobil / Small world
We have a playmobil zoo and a playmobol dolls house and they're great and I feel they will last a long time

UnalliterativeGeorge · 24/08/2019 16:01

I have a two year old and a four year old and the thing they play with most is cars and trains, other than craft stuff. They also love kinetic sand with some sand moulds which I can tolerate better than I can play doh!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 24/08/2019 16:10

Sand tray/water tray - best toy purchase ever in our house, even 7yo Ds is still keen to play

Play doh

Paw patrol/blaze vehicles with a bit of top wing mixed in

Playmobil is another classic hard wearing toy that they play with for years and years.

Shelby1981 · 24/08/2019 16:15

A Rockyboard/Wobbel/ some other balance board - can be used to rock, climb, put one end on the sofa as a slide, stand up on edge to be a shop...

Playmobil is great and so many different sets

Mud kitchen for outside? Doesn't have to be big and can use sand instead of mud for less mess (b&m has coloured sand)

OneForTheRoadThen · 24/08/2019 16:17

Swimming lessons? A term of an activity? A special day out? We're trying to cut back on buying toys as I think our children have too many and trying to focus on activities or trips instead.

Cornettoninja · 24/08/2019 16:57

Does she like dressing up at all? Couple of tutu’s, masks, headbands, hats etc should be easy enough for her to get on and off by herself and usually covers that glitzy visual impact kids like when they open a present.

Amazon are pretty good for that.

Tigerwhocamefortea · 24/08/2019 16:58

My almost 3 year old likes the Happyland toys at the minute.

ColdTattyWaitingForSummer · 24/08/2019 17:05

Building toys such as duplo or megablocks. Agree with an easel and accompanying art supplies. Dollies and prams are popular with all the wee ones I know in that age group. Anything with a favourite character on. Pop up tent and tunnel (can be used inside or out, but folds up small when not in use). Sand and water tray (if you can stand the potential for mess!)
The great thing at that age is they have no concept of money or cost, so things don’t need to be extravagant to be much loved.

tappitytaptap · 24/08/2019 20:31

Duplo very popular with my 3 year old at the moment

pikapikachu · 24/08/2019 20:35

My dd was all about dressing up at 3.

Coconutbug · 24/08/2019 20:36

My lo main present was an annual pass to the zoo.
I got the rest of her presents second hand, happyland stuff, Moana dress up and little figures.
The main things she plays with her babies (we have outfits, pram high chair and cot for them) happyland, occasionally little push along cars in different shapes like tractor, ambulance etc.
She has just started getting into playmobile. She spent 5 hours playing with a new set we found in the charity shop for £1.50!!

Seeleyboo · 24/08/2019 21:23
