Breast feeding night 3!

Hi ladies so I'm a first time mum, I don't generally write much on here but I do read ALOT of the tips so thought I would share my first very useful tip ( well to me it is ) Grin

Night 1 easy for me. Baby and I took to breast feeding quite well and I was so happy!

Night 2 was COMPLETELY different! very very hard I had about 1 hour broken sleep. My DD cluster fed all night and then all day the next day. I found It's slightly painful to breast feed constantly. It wasn't really hurting but by night 3 it was enough to make me re think me feeding decision a few times and wonder if I should ask somebody to pick me some powder milk up! But I soldiered through, had a few tears and then found my little trick.
My nipples were burning a bit (all normal midwife said) but becoming very uncomfortable for me to feed my lovely but very hungry baby.

So.... I put a bottle of water in the fridge and just before I put baby on to feed I pressed it against my nipple for about 20 seconds. MAGIC? for me it was. I literally sailed through night 3 with no pain no uncomfortableness and no tears from me or baby. She cluster fed again but I was definitely able to do it quite contently with no dread or fear.
And me and baby are both benefiting from me being able to stick out my plan of exclusivity breast feeding her Star hope this helps ladies. Much love Halo

Well done! You’re doing great!
You get a dose full of hormones around 3 days pp so be prepared for that! I was very weepy about a week after dd2.

Excellent trick - well done! Night two is known for being a tough one, as the baby has woken up a bit and is working hard to get your milk in by feeding all the time 😬. I remember when DS was born that there were posters in the maternity unit warning parents about ‘night two’ and reassuring them there was nothing wrong if the baby fed all night! Still bloody hard though. Enjoy your new baby and look after yourself Cake

Just to point out your baby isn't "very hungry", she's a normal amount of hungry for her tiny stomach that needs refilling frequently, and she also isn't just feeding constantly to get milk right now, she's telling your body she's there and to establish your milk supply. Good job OP!
