Hi all hoping we haven't dropped the ball on this!! We have a family trip planned in 4 weeks to scotland flying from Northern Ireland. Does my 7 week old need a passport for a domestic flight? I assumed not but haven't had the time / mental capacity to look into it lol sleepless nights. Its not like us!!

It’s dependent on the airline, legally you don’t need photo ID to travel within UK but some airlines require it. British Airways don’t but EasyJet do, I think. So check with your airline, fingers crossed you’re ok.

In theory no however I think photographic Id can be requested, which for a baby would only be a passport (I’m not sure if it’s only adults they request it of though). You’ve time to get an application in though with a very good chance of the passport being back. HMPO quote about 3 weeks for a child passport but I’ve not waited longer than 10 days for any of my dc.

Ditto, check with the airline.
But equally, you can probably get a passport before you fly if you apply soon, and everything is straight forward.

A birth certificate should be fine OP, but check with the airline to be sure
