Yellow teeth baby

I dont know what to do about my little ones teeth. He is nearly 14 months and has his teeth brushed twice a day (which he hates, we practically have to sit on him but do manage to get a fairly good brush in for about 30 seconds, I can't imagine 2 minutes would be pleasant for him at all). He has 12 teeth already with 13 and 14 coming through. The issue is he seems to have a build up of tartar-on the bottom teeth at the front a few of them have yellow staining that wont come off if I try with my nail, it's from the gum to about half way up.

He only drinks water from a free flow beaker in the day and doesnt have much in the way of refined sugar (maybe a little bit of my cake once a week or an ice cream). He does love fruit, all of his meals are home cooked with the exception of a few lunches if we are out. He has one bottle of milk before bed and teeth are brushed after. He has a dummy for sleep only and he mostly spits it out once actually asleep.

What else can I do? I feel awful that his teeth dont appear to be as healthy as they could be. Were taking him for his first dental check up in the coming weeks, though how much he will let them look or do remains to be seen!

We had the same thing OP- I ended up having to lay our LO down on a changing mat and use my fingers to lift up her lips and proper clean each tooth. She hates it but has to be done

Could be from an infection or antibiotics when he was little or when you were pregnant. Remember there are only his baby teeth. Just keep them free from decay.

My eldest two had perfectly sound adult teeth but marks from uneven mineralisation probably due to bronchiolitis when they were babies. They got their teeth whitened and it all sorted out in their teens. They have very nice teeth now.
