hiring a nanny in London

Hi, does anyone have any experience in hiring a nanny?

My friend from overseas is moving to London for a new job and needs to hire a nanny asap as she starts work Sept 1st. She has been over and done the interviews and chosen someone. All good there. She also has rented a flat with the lease starting end of August.

However the nanny agency doesn't seem to want to do the paperwork. I have been translating my friend's emails for her as she doesn't speak much English yet.

How far in advance are the contracts with the nannies normally signed? Would it be normal for the nanny to start work, then the agency sort out all the paperwork (employment contract, tax, insurance etc). My friend thinks it should all be done weeks in advance so is getting stressed over it.

If you have hired a nanny, how did it work for you?

The agency sounds rubbish not to have told you how to do it... but companies like NannyTax do the paperwork for parents.

I’m pretty intrigued as to what your friend will be doing to be earning a lot with limited English Hmm

Thanks JoJoSM2.

My friend works in performing arts so needs a nanny rather than daycare.

The nanny hiring agency recommended a paperwork company like Nannytax and it is them who aren't doing anything.

Performing arts makes sense Smile I always think of people moving over to work in office jobs...

If NannyTax isn’t doing a good job, then you could try another similar company. I can’t remember their names but there are others.
