Questions about infant carrier..

My 3 month old son has the Joie i-Gemm car seat but after reading some posts on the A-Z of Rearfacing Facebook group I'm worried he's been in it incorrectly all this time Confused

So far I've taken out the newborn head insert because he looked so squished and uncomfortable and I've also taken the wedge out because the buckle was was so hard to clip in and felt extremely tight. It's easier to fasten now the wedge is out.

Is this wrong? I just have no idea about car seats and feel like there's so much to know. I would ask on one of the Facebook groups but posting is now turned off and I really need some advice here.

Anyone help?

What did you see on those groups which made you think you're doing it wrong? I can't quite follow what you mean but wedge?

We bought an iGemm to take on holiday (long story, but we already had a Maxi Cosi with a base at home which we didn't want to take) and DS always looked much more reclined in the iGemm no matter how much we tried to sit him up. Perhaps it's the seat?

I don't know what you mean by a wedge (never seen anything like this in a car seat). But I would say it's pretty normal to remove the insert around 3 months. You could always take it to a specialist (probably like not Halford's like a proper baby shop that fits car seats) and have them check.

Take the insert out according to your instruction leaflet, I can't remember when the head bit comes out but the wedge comes out much later (10kg I think). I don't understand what you mean by it being too tight to fasten with the wedge, you loosen the straps, fasten then tighten. So it shouldn't make a difference whether the wedge is there or not
