Help with blepharitis?

Not really sure where to post this but was wondering if anyone has children with blepharitis. We have a 2yo who seams to have more flare ups than not. We've been cleaning with diluted baby shampoo twice a day as advised by doctors, but it doesn't help. :(

We've just got some blephaclean wipes to see if they help, but only started a couple of days ago with those.

We're taking DC back to doctors for the 1000th time, but wondered if anyone could advise how they keep it under control?

Hi. My children have not had this but I did and after 3 weeks I was prescribed some antibiotics - cleared up over the next 4 days.

Very painful so I feel for your poor little one. Hope you get it sorted.

Look up eye ointment you put in the eyes overnight. I get this ( came on as I got older ) and the overnight ointment has helped me greatly.
The one I use is called VitA-POS.
Tbh it has to go in just before you put out the light as it's like putting Vaseline in your eye. It really works for me.

Thanks @pigcon1 we've been battling with it for a few months now with little one.

We had anibiotic cream that cleared up one eye, but she now has a cyst in the other. :(

I was given the shampoo advice by my gp. I also heard a doctor giving similar advice on the radio. I went to an optician to get new glasses and they asked me about the blepharitis. I told them I was using diluted shampoo as per GP and they said that was old advice and they now recognise it can damage the film of the eye . So instead I was told to use an eye mask that you can heat in microwave and apply to eyes and to use wipes twice a day. I also used eye drops. The blepharitis went after a couple of weeks.

I had this earlier this year and it was awful - could barely keep my eyes open!

Like a pp I use the eye cream VITA-POS at night, but found through the day my eyes were still very sore.
I was advised by my pharmacist to use eye drops several times through the day as they cool and lubricate. To begin with I used 2-3 bottles a week for about 3-4 weeks, BUT........

.....It worked! I still use the cream at night as I have dry eyes due to a health condition, but I don't need the eye drops unless I've been in an atmosphere - like a shopping mall - that makes my eyes sore. So I make sure I carry a bottle with me, and once opened, make sure I throw them away by the sell by date - if there's any left.

Hope you can sort it for the little one.

Thanks. I'll look into the eye masks too. 😊
