Aldi nappies - what is the + in 4+?

Hi all,

Is 4+ a larger size than 4, or does it mean more absorbent?

OP posts:

  • usually means "from xx up". Eg 18+ means 18 and older.
polarisation · 04/08/2019 15:23

More absorbent!

Tobebythesea · 04/08/2019 15:23

I always thought it was absorbency.

With pampers the 4 is the same size as the 4+ but it holds more wee. So the + is absorbency not size. Not sure about Aldi!

Heratnumber7 · 04/08/2019 15:27

Isn't 4 age 4?

MmmBlowholes · 04/08/2019 15:32

OK those of you who don't buy nappies should all stop answering because your replies make fuck all sense!!

It's usually extra absorbency for kids not quite ready for the next size up. It may also cover a bit heavier weight than the standard 4 without being loads bigger.

RebeccaCloud9 · 04/08/2019 15:41

We use the + ones overnight. They hold more wee.

RebeccaCloud9 · 04/08/2019 15:42

@Heratnumber7 you've misunderstood the question.

hormonesorDHbeingadick · 04/08/2019 17:42

For all nappies it means larger. So 4+ is larger than a 4 but small than a 5. Because the nappy is larger, there is more absorbent material so a 4+ will be more absorbent than a 4.

mumderland · 04/08/2019 17:45
  • are more absorbent
LL83 · 04/08/2019 17:55

@hormonesorDHbeingadick that's what I thought, but eventually I realised it means more absorbent. (For Tesco, Asda and Pampers anyway).

OP I think when you read really closely it tells you on the packet. Took me ages to notice though.

hormonesorDHbeingadick · 04/08/2019 18:36

Aldi definitely have suggested weights on the packed and 4+ is for larger size babies then size 4. I’m pretty sure pampers were the same but it’s a while since I bought pampers.

RebeccaCloud9 · 04/08/2019 19:22

@hormonesordhbeingadick the sizes are slightly different but there's a big overlap. The intended difference between standard and + is the absorbency. So you wouldn't just move up sizes 3 then 3+ then 4 then 4+. You use the + when you need more absorbency. If you don't, but need a bigger size you go from a 3 to a 4.

feelingsicknow · 04/08/2019 19:36

I had to buy the 4+ yesterday because there were no 4's left.

All I've noticed is absorbency- no size difference.

Tigger001 · 04/08/2019 22:50

Yep it's just more absorbency , not for age 4 🤣🤣🤣
