Baby won't drink milk

DS is 14 months and is bf. When he was 12 months we started giving him a bottle of formula before bedtime in hopes that he'd disassociate bf from sleep. All went fine. He'd drink all 8oz.

We mixed whole milk with the formula to start with, after about two weeks of him getting used to the bottle. If it's just 2oz of whole milk mixed with formula he'll drink maybe 4oz and be done. If we add anymore whole milk he'll just refuse the bottle and if he does drink some he's often a little sick and seems uncomfortable, he's not a sicky baby usually. I wondered about a mild allergy, but he was always fine with the formula and eats cheese like there's no tomorrow!

Anyone else had this problem? The HV said it's really important he drinks whole milk. He's still breastfed during the day.

If he's still breastfed then he doesn't really need to drink milk. 3 portions of dairy are recommended - noone need to be in drink form if they have other sources e.g. milk in cereal, yoghurt, cheese, cheese sauce custard, etc

In fact NHS says 2 portions (used to say 3):

Try to give your child at least 350ml (12oz) of milk a day, or 2 servings of foods made from milk, such as cheese, yoghurt or fromage frais.

He needs 350 mg of calcium a day.

You could be my mother 50+ years ago, she took me to the Dr because I wasn't drinking much milk.

As I was 10Lb at birth and had put on weight at the normal rate the Dr told my mum to not worry.

I'm lactose intolerant.

Milk Makes me feel sick and gives me diarrhea but I can tolerate some milk in things like mashed potatoes, and I can eat cheese.

I have to be careful if I have a roast dinner and I have Yorkshire pudding and mash I suffer.
