When did your baby stop having bottles?

Obviously this is for people whose babies actually had bottles...because you always see similar threads with people saying 'never, my baby did X instead' - which is fine, but obviously not what I'm asking! Just wondering what the range of 'normal' is in this regard really. I know NHS advises no bottles after 1 for teeth but most the people I've spoken to IRL who have bottle fed kept them for longer than this, sometimes much longer. DD is 13 months and we are favouring a gradual approach, so far we have swopped the morning milk to that red Tommee Tippiee free flow sippy cup that you see everywhere. A few days have passed and she was drinking less initially but I think has cracked it now. Still has bottle before bed, not sure whether to also switch that soon or wait a few more months.

one of my DCs had a bedtime bottle until he was 4 Shock

He's 14 now and has no dental issues. Im not recommending it though. Just being honest.

2nd child, difficult 1.5 years as I've left his EA dad, he still has cows 🐄 milk at bedtime in a bottle. I don't stress about it, I doubt he'll take it to uni/work!!!!!😬🤣

jomaIone · 31/07/2019 22:30

I think if it's only 1 bottle a day then it's probably not causing too much damage. The main problem is if they're constantly drinking from a bottle, and the bottle has Sugary juice in it! A

DD1 was around 14 months and by that stage she was only drinking milk before bed but barely any. So we switched to a sippy cup and sure enough it made no difference. She's not a milk fan. So instead she got her milk in porridge and other dairy forms. She still hates it now.
You have started the process, so keep going and move to cups for all drinks.

BackforGood · 31/07/2019 22:47

None of mine had any bottles after they were one.

TapasForTwo · 31/07/2019 22:48

At one year old. I was told that the longer you leave it the harder it becomes so I just stopped bottles at 12 months. I don't recall it being an issue.

youngestisapsycho · 31/07/2019 22:50

Both mine stopped having bottles at around 10 months.

Twixes · 31/07/2019 22:57

My two year old still has about three a day Blushshe loves them.

Her brother switched to his big boy cup at around 2.3 months. They won't be drinking out of bottles forever, they're only little for such a short time. Enjoy it!

Iwanttoredecorateagain · 31/07/2019 22:57

About 11 months. No issues

Jupiter13 · 31/07/2019 22:58

About 11....just before senior school. He used to moan about me going to school at lunchtime..😂😂😂😂

lancslass17 · 31/07/2019 22:59

Following my ds has just turned 1 still on 3 or 4 bottles a day I'm working on getting him onto whole milk at the min x

ReturnofSaturn · 31/07/2019 23:00

12 or 13 months. I Just put the milk in a cup instead. What's the difference.

FirstTimeToddlerMum · 31/07/2019 23:41

Stopped actual baby bottles at around 10/11 months but 17 m now and still has drink of cows milk before bed.

Not fussed about the milk drinking , couldn't care less if he was still doing that at 12.

MarthasGinYard · 01/08/2019 00:02

12 months

Had a sippy cup of milk

soulrunner · 01/08/2019 00:05

Dd was a bottle addict and hung onto her bedtime fix till she was 3. One day my nanny just said ‘no more bottles. You’re a big girl. Use a cup’. Worked like a charm.

soulrunner · 01/08/2019 00:07

Should add- she was the most horrific sleeper so we were using ‘milk molotovs’ until she was 2 which didn’t help.

Caterina99 · 01/08/2019 06:25

Both of mine were down to one bottle before bed by 13m and no bottles after 15m. DD is 21m and loves cows milk and has a cup before bed. My DS is 4 and still often has a cup of milk before bed.

NisekoWhistler · 01/08/2019 06:28

Cold turkey at 1st birthday. Went to munchkin 360 cup and then open cup/normal cups and glasses from 2

WhatwouldRuthdo · 01/08/2019 06:32

I switched to cups at 12 months with both DC. They still have milk in a cup before bed though.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 01/08/2019 06:34

DS2 has a bottle still at 20 months! His 4 yo brother still drinks a ton of milk (from a mug) so it’s only fair that the little one gets some too, and he won’t drink it from anything other than a bottle. He drinks other stuff from a cup no problem.

At night he gets water in a bottle as I’d rather give him the bottle than milk.

Going to go cold turkey when he can understand the bottle fairy!

Lauren83 · 01/08/2019 06:38

DS is 18 months and has a bottle in his cot at bedtime

LetsBreakItDown · 01/08/2019 07:17

My DD is 16 months and still has a bottle each morning and night.

Bluebelltulip · 01/08/2019 07:49

Just over 2 when bottles stopped completely, only 1 before bed since 12 months all other drinks in beakers or cups.

Yogurtcoveredricecake · 01/08/2019 08:03

Sippy cup of a morning at 12 months then moved to a sippy cup before bed at about 14 months.
