Please help! There are so many different types. Can someone help a mama out? I have a 10 month old and would like to use reusable nappies. Tia

Will you be air drying? Are you open to folding nappies or do you want something simple to put on?
Avoid microfibre, you get compression leaks and doesn't hold much anyway.
Bamboo & hemp hold a lot but absorb slowly so can flood if doing big wees. Some of the cheaper bamboo inserts have a microfibre core.
Cotton abosrbs quickly, you don't get compression leaks and holds an alright amount.
I'd suggest possibly buying pockets from the seller 'Yellowbloom' on ebay, pockets themselves are okay but inserts are rubbish. Then I'd buy bamboo inserts from Little Lamb, then if your little one starts flooding them (not all children will do big enough wees to flood and if they do usually toddlers not babies) add a pad folded muslin or any cotton fabric on top of bamboo. The Little Lamb sized pockets are also raved about but pricier. Their fitteds & wraps are also great for overnight.
I'm using terries and wraps as they dry fast, easy to handwash if going away and no washing machine and economical. But I appreciate terries intimidate a fair few!

The nappy laddy website is useful for information on the different kinds, and I think it has a questionnaire to help you choose what style suits you.

I got my cloth nappies second hand, so never had to choose type. I mostly have pocket nappies which have separate inserts. You need to spend a little bit of time putting them together but they do dry quickly. I use a nappy cover over the cloth nappy in case of leaks. I recently bought some motherease airflow ones which have worked really well so far.

We've just started using pocket nappies from eccopippo website. I made my decision after watching reviews on you tube and demonstrations, really helped to make it clearer what would work for us.

We've gone for velcro and the inserts can be put in the pocket in advance so when it comes to putting the nappy on it is like a disposable! The inserts fold when in use so unfold for drying so are pretty quick to dry.

Op look up whether you have a nappy library near you.

You will be able to try out different types and see what works for your baby before committing yourself to a material/type/brand
I'm a nappy library volunteer so happy to answer any questions you may have!

If you're happy to go second hand, a lot of people buy nappies in a well-meaning way then find they're too knackered to actually use them.

So you can get real bargains on gumtree of people who are too sheepish to say the nappies are barely or never used.

I've got a stash of motherease, they don't look very exciting but ridiculously good quality and they last very well. I'm using them on their own now with a wrap, will add a booster and fleece liner when DS is bigger/weans so his poo becomes Blush
