Formula and boiled water

I'm giving 2oz formula topped up with cows milk (transitioning from all formula to all cows milk) - does it matter that tonight I didn't add a little boiled water to the formula before adding the milk?

Following as I am tempted to do the same (tried him on just blue too the other day had one ounce then wouldn't have any more so nearly put a scoop in)
I feel like it would be ok because God knows what else goes I there ( crayons tonight!) X

You need to reconstitute the formula with water before adding to the cows milk.

RockCrushesLizard · 29/07/2019 19:22

It's important to make up the formula part according to the guidelines first, before you add anything else.
So water at 70 degrees to make up the formula (to kill any bacteria in the formula powder), then however much cows milk you want to mix it with.

You need to make the formula up correctly. Why risk an upset tummy?

With my 3 I did the transition by giving a small amount of cows milk in a cup(not replacing any bottles) with a snack from 11 months or so to get them used to the taste and then just switched over from formula in bottles to cows milk in a cup at 12 months.

OP if your LO is a toddler surely you know you need to add near boiling water to formula to kill any bacteria. So forgetting to add boiling water isn’t great as the bacteria won’t have been killed but as a one off it’s unlikely to harm them.
What temp was the cows milk?

I feel really bad, but you won't believe the stress I've been under today, I've never forgotten before 😢😢

@KMoKMo

I'm a new mum - the baby has only been ours for a few months. I have much to learn.

No use worrying now. Just use hot water for the formula next time Thanks
