Bedtime routine: Daily baths causing dry skin?

My LO is 3.5 months and we've started to try and implement a bedtime routine which involves bath, bottle and bed. It seems to be working okay but I've noticed the skin on his legs is getting really dry with raised bumps. I'm worried this is due to the daily baths...
Is it still possible to implement a routine that involves a bath every few days instead? What would you use as the alternative on non bath days? Or is there something I can try on his skin to help with the dryness?

The bath is just not part of our routine. The bedtime routine is pjs, with emollient cream as mine both have mild eczema. Aveeno is what we use. Then milk, teeth brush and books and then bed. Obviously this has evolved a bit. They get bathed probably every 2 days unless they need it.

At 3.5 months the “routine” was change into pjs and feed in the chair in their room. I feel if you go for an overly long routine you’re stuck doing it every night and some nights we get home late so it’s nice that their normal routine is only about 10 min long

Oh and my kids are nearly 2 and 4. We’ve had the same routine though since they’ve had teeth really

I use Johnson's baby oil in the bath, been doing it every day since 3 weeks, she's now 11 weeks and she's pretty slippery getting out the bath but her skin isn't dry Smile

Our DS got eczema around 5 months so we don't do daily baths anymore. When we do we add ointment in the water instead of baby wash. A lot of baby specific products are quite harsh in their skin so worth doing some research into what works for you.

Our bed time routine has always been nappy, sleeping bag, milk and bed. Basically just getting to bed that is! Hopefully the milk (bf) will be gone soonish.

I don't really get the point of overly long and complicated bed time routines.

If bath water dries your baby's skin, you can use a bath additive. My baby has mild eczema and GP prescribed some oilatum bath oil. Word of warning though, it makes DS slippery and when he's being extra wriggly it's like trying to hold a jumping salmon still and safe!

We didn't bath every day till we started weaning and he became the filthiest baby ever. We use Aveeno in the bath.

We only bath once a week, have done from the start as it can dry the skin (as you have found). We use Kokoso baby wash, and then coconut oil on the skin, but as little as possible. Weleda do a sensitive baby lotion called white mallow and theres another brand that I cant remember! Look on babipur website - it's all organic and sensitive. Id ever use johnsons anything on any of my babies, far too harsh.

I’ve never done daily baths as part of the routine and still often do baths in the morning; on non bath days we have a calming down time where we go to DDs room and play more calmly, get changed and have a story and cuddle. When she was a baby this included a bottle too.

I bathed my babies every day since they came home as part of our routine. I added something to the water when toddlers as one did have eczema but the bath didn’t cause it (and when we went to Spain every year it cleared up in days).
Try a little baby massage with a baby moisturiser after the bath.

We bath every other day sometimes every 3 days and he has perfect skin (6 months)

Babies don’t need a daily bath, I think the recommendation for eczema prone skin was once a week and top/tail washes in between. As PP have said, just cut the bath out of your routine, it will be fine!

We bath our DD twice a week because she's prone to dry skin too (1 year old). On non-bath nights our bedtime routine is... changed into pyjamas/sleepsuit, clean nappy, bottle, book, brush teeth and into sleeping bag. We use Aveeno Baby lotion for her skin which does help the dryness.
