Play kitchen recommendations?

Hi all

I've been looking for a while on and off for a good quality play kitchen for my DD who is almost 20 months.

I'd like a wooden one that has some fun fittings (sink/taps/oven/hob/cupboards etc) and ideally nice to look at too.

There's plenty around but reviews all seem to be inconsistent with complaints about parts missing/split panels etc.

Cost not a huge issue, if we find one we want that is expensive we can get it as her second birthday present.

So, has anyone found one that they love and would recommend? Hope you can help!

We have IKEA one. It's very nice to look at and doesn't look like an eyesore in our living room. I like that it has a little microwave bit as my son always seemed to use these on kitchens at playgroups. I ordered a number pad sticker from ebay which he seems to like. It doesn't have any knobs but you can buy stickers or screw your own on. It has a sink and hob that lights up. They do some accessories to go with it too like tiny pans and things.

We have the Tidlo Country kitchen and love it. It has a sink oven cupboard and wooden washing up liquid and utensils. I got mine here www.babame.com/index/ref/64/

Honestly just get the IKEA one. The big fancy ones are all fair and well but take up MASSES of room and just become dust traps. We were bought a GLTC one as a birthday present for DD, and it’s lovely, but she gets just as much pleasure out of the ikea ones when we see them elsewhere. So many amazing hacks on pinterest too to tart them up if you’re that way inclined.

The Melissa and Doug one was nice

MyDcAreMarvel · 28/07/2019 14:03

We have the ASDA wooden one and it’s great, no problems at all

escapade1234 · 28/07/2019 14:03

IKEA

DaddysGirl36 · 28/07/2019 14:06

We got this one from ASDA. One of the cheapest around & looks great. Comes with pans, plates & cutlery

Another vote for the ikea one. Had our's two years and still looks as good as new.

The Ikea one is fab! Has legs so you can adjust the height as DCs grow. It either came with a mini set of utensils / pans or you can buy them there separately, but they were also great. Removable washing up bowl, taps to turn, hooks to hang stuff on. 1 cupboard, 1 oven and 1 microwave. And the hob lights up when you turn it on Grin

Just be careful when you're potty training... DS once thought it would be a good idea to remove the sink bowl and then sit on it and relieve himself into the shelf below... Hmm

We've got the Asda one it's great

NotGenerationAlpha · 28/07/2019 14:53

We have the Ikea one and we bought it for DD1 and she’s 8 now. It’s still looking good.

Tobebythesea · 28/07/2019 15:32

Ikea one is really great.

PatricksRum · 28/07/2019 17:56

Does anyone have the link for the Ikea one?
And Melissa and doug one?

Yogurtcoveredricecake · 28/07/2019 17:57

IKEA one. It looks good and is sturdy.

Rockbird · 28/07/2019 18:15

Ikea Duktig

Looks like it's between Asda and ikea, I'll take another look at those ones. Good to know everyone rates them so much. Thanks all!

We got the Ikea one & some batt op spotlights from there too & stuck them under the top. Got a load of GLTC/Melissa & Doug wooden food & a kettle that makes a sound when you boil/pour which I enjoy far too much!

Sunshine1235 · 28/07/2019 19:09

The Ikea one is really sturdy if you’ve got a climber. It comes with their standard hook to attach it to the wall but we haven’t done that and even after 2 years of my boys climbing all over it it’s as good as new. Honestly you can’t beat it and it looks nice too

Sammy867 · 28/07/2019 19:12

IKEA. We painted ours and added lights and a backing. Look for ikea toy kitchen hacks and they can look amazing. Ours is now rose gold and navy blue

gubbsywubbsy · 28/07/2019 19:15

Ikea one is much less garish than others . Ours is in the garden and has done very well !

MyDcAreMarvel · 28/07/2019 19:17

Ikea definitely better quality than Asda.

Iambouddica · 28/07/2019 19:19

Another vote for the ikea one. It’s sturdy enought to be climbed on and turned into a plane/rocket etc...
