Can newborns roll over?

My newborn is 4 days old. During the day we place her on her back on our bed while we watch TV or whatever. A few times she's managed to roll herself over onto her side. Is this possible as she so young? She does have very long legs and big feet (which she got from her dad) nothing worrying she seems happy sleeping on her side just seem unusual as she's so little. I thought they don't tend to roll over until they're abit older?

Yep they can roll. My littlest was rolling into her side at 2 days she is only 6 days now but her big sister rolled into her tummy the day before she was 12 weeks. Babies develop fast. Mary Sheridan birth to 5 years has lots of age related mile stones of your interested.

Newborn babies can accidentally because their head is so big and their centre of gravity is all weird. It's not a learned skill. She'll probably stop at some point until she learns properly!

Yeah they roll on to their side. They lose the ability before they learn to do it intentionally.

Yes. DS rolled onto his side at birth and slept that way all the time. He didn't roll onto his stomach until 10 weeks though.

Yes, that's why you can't leave them alone on a raised surface ever :)

Oh yes, they can and do.

Yes. My DS always curled up on his side when we put him down.
