Water - Heat - 12 week old?

Hi all,

How much water should I be giving my 12 week old in this hot 33-35 degree heat?

Also any tips on how to keep cool and keep the sun out? My living room and bedroom (where baby sleeps too) are south facing and blinds/curtains aren't cutting it.

Thanks :)

If you’re bf you don’t need to give any water, if you’re ff you can give cooled boiled water as well as milk, try a bit and see how it goes down.

We’re keeping curtains closed and baby in a nappy or a nappy and vest and using fans.

If you're bf you don't need to give water. Just feed plenty and make sure you are drinking a lot.

FF give cool boiled water as and when. They don't need a lot.

Very loose clothing (if any!) and a fan help to keep them cool. Also stay indoors.

Have you got a garden with shade? If you have, then better than being inside.

Take her into a cool bath with you and cool off together!

Cooler bath before bed helps, we went on holiday for three weeks when DS was 3 months old - it was 38 most days and didn’t go below 20 at night. He spent a lot of time in just a nappy or with a vest near a fan in his bouncer. He was completely content.

We would go out early in the AM when cooler.
Generally, if your house is decently insulated, keep the windows and blinds closed when the sun is shining. Open the windows in the evening and at night. More specifically, keep the windows closed when the outside temperature is hotter than it is inside, and open the windows when it's cooler outside than inside.
