Newborn sleepwear and winding

It’s for DD2 but I’m still clueless.

Baby is 5 days old. Bedroom is approx 22c and she is in the next to me. Do I put her in a vest and sleepsuit but no blanket? She is a bit of a sleepy baby and need her to wake for frequently for feeds.

She is bf but windy. I’m not finding it easier to get the wind up with back patting and rubbing. What else can I do on such a tiny one.

We found this position a good one. It does take some practice with supporting the baby’s chest, head etc but there are tutorials on YouTube. Having said that, it probably brought down winding time down from 40 to 30 mins or so... Some babies take forever unfortunately.

I've just read an article about what to wear for babies.

It's a vest and thin sheet.

My DS is in vest and footless pjamas tonight, no blanket/sleeping bag.

Can’t comment on the winding as my two can belch like navvies! Hope you find a way that works though OP

I'd go for a vest and think cellular blanket.

For winding, one tip we got which seemed to work was, with him sitting on your knee, hold one hand on his front supporting his chin and one one his back and then gently lift upwards, almost 'stretching' his torso, just slowly, but a few raises like this worked with DS.

This might help your first question @hormonesorDHbeingadick .

Not sure what to say with the winding other than keep at it!! Good luck!

Thanks all. I found a vest and cellular blanket worked best especially as I have been stripping her to her best for feeding.

Winding is still very hit and miss. I forgot that crying makes them get wind.

For us most times sort of rythmically walking around the flat was the best way for winding DS.
