Weaning - not much seems to be going in?

Trying to wean my 6 month old with vegetable purées, baby rice etc but don't think hardly any food is going in at all, she blows raspberries on it and it's just a taste if that, should she be having 3 (albeit tiny) meals a day?

Hi Op at first it's all just about taste rather than quantity for the first two weeks or so it's just offering your baby a teaspoon or two of taste they normally do spit it out takes them a while before they start to eat it after all milk has been the only thing your baby has known for the first 6 months have a look at some weaning books for advice regarding when to start them on three small meals or the nhs bump baby and beyond which has advice portion size on weaning it is a mare when you do start weaning but within next month or so your baby will be enjoying all kinds of different foods and treats Wink

Not much went into mine until about 8 months TBH-Nhs scotland says moving towards 3 meals by around 9 months. Then snacks too.

The amount they eat is teeny tiny at first- I didn't really get that and it stressed me out massively. Basically my expectations were way too high...

We did BLW but it probably took us 3 months before we were routinely on 3 meals a day. He probably started having the recommended 3 meals and 2 snacks at 11 months. They still only have tiny stomachs, there's no rush.

Babies automatically push out the food at the beginning - this is a sort of reflex that prevents them from choking. They have to learn that it's safe to eat food that's not fluid and doesn't come from a nipple/bottle. How long this takes is different for each child. With my son it took about 2 days. My daughter didn't eat more than the odd teaspoon full of food for 2 months.
