Breast lift and implants / boob job

Hi guys - I just really need some advice from people who've been there!

I don't want to go into too much detail about what this means to me. But I've always always been unhappy with my chest - and it's not just size. Luckily I have been able to breast feed two babies and I am grateful but that has left them even worse! Smaller, lower, and more misshapen (tubular).

I have seen a surgeon who said that implants would not be enough I would need essentially a lift aswell. This sounds so much more invasive and I am worried that I will be out of action with the kids for too long. The guidelines say anything from 2 weeks to 3 months!! (My kids can walk/ toddle but need lifting into high chairs etc.)

Has anyone had a breast lift aswell as implants? How did it go and when were you able to look after small children?

@luckyorange I would like to know the same, I would need an uplift rather than simply implants, which seems to make the procedure so much more invasive. I’d also like to see the end results in reality, but you can’t really go round asking to see people boobs can you! Grin

Exactly!! And not surprisingly any google search including "boobs" goes off on a tangent!!

Although, some of the clinic websites have before and after photos which are helpful but I was still hoping to get some real mum stories on here - how they coped with babies / kids at the same time!

There is a whole breast augmentation world on Instagram. Just type in bajourney and loads of accounts will come up. Showing before, during, afters and talking about their recovery. I had implants in May. I didn't have a lift. I was in pain for 3-4 days. Driving again after a week and picking my toddlers up after 2 weeks although it's not advised for 6 weeks. After breast feeding 3 children my boobs were tiny and deflated. It is the best thing I've ever done.

I had implants about 3-4 years ago , my youngest was then 3 . I was in so much pain afterwards , couldn’t drive for approx 2 weeks . Even flushing the loo made me cry. It took about 12 weeks till I started to feel more like my normal self . I also experienced hyper sensitivity on one of my breasts which really got me down . I don’t regret having them done but I seriously underestimated the amount of healing time it would take . Good luck

@churchgate @Wonkydonkey44 thank you for sharing your stories! I know in the long run I will be happy I did it. I'm worried that with the doctor recommending a lift aswell as implants I'll be out of action for even longer. It seems like a long time anyway doesn't it. Although 2 weeks is maybe do-able it's a lot to put on my poor husband!

I had uplift + implants...And I had a 4 month old at the time!!...I was sore & needed help for the first week. But after that I was fine...One of my implants unfortunately didnt grip and dropped down in the first 6 months so I had to have it done again...They are in place now...But I will say I hate the scars...they bother me so much more than I thought they would.I thought I would be so confident afterwards and have them out all the time (In the bedroom) wear skimpy bikinis that show under boob...Low cut dresses and need no support...But tbh the scars make me want to hide them...I have a stomach full of stretch marks that I'm really ashamed of.And that's now how my scars make me feel about my boobs...they were horrible before so either way I hated them. But spending the £8000 to feel the same kind of sucks! That's something I'd bear in mind X

madcatladyforever · 26/07/2019 13:59

Yes me. I had a lift as my boobs were just awful empty sacs. The results were amazing but you will need a lot of help afterwards as recovery takes a while. No swinging toddlers about. I felt suicidal about my breasts as I was onlyoung 21 years old at the time. I'm 57 now and they still look good.

luckyorange · 29/07/2019 13:09

@Cantthinkofanameeee thank you so much for sharing. It's surprisingly hard to find people, especially new mums specifically, who've had both a lift and implants. 1-2 weeks seems reasonable for recovery so youve reassured me a little there thank you! Some people say 6 or more weeks - or at least two full weeks of not even being able to self-care. It's so hard to know how your body will respond isn't it. And like you say it's so much money and no guarantees. So sorry it's not helped you either. We definitely have to sacrifice our bodies for babies don't we...not that I'd have it different even knowing the outcome.

@madcatladyforever thank you for sharing your story! I'm very glad they're still looking good for you after 30 years that gives me confidence too. I feel awful about mine aswell- it's getting me down more than I would like. I would love to love my body how it is and I really try to but it's so hard and this seems like a solution but it's a big decision and will effect the whole family. It really helps hearing how it has helped others so thanks again!! X

Try the RealSelf website. All the procedures are on there and experiences. It's an amazing resource. I had my reduction on Friday, which included a lift (massive one in my case) I am beyond delighted.

luckyorange · 04/08/2019 21:00

@Notwiththeseknees I've just realised you posted this just 3 days after your operation? How were you feeling then and how are you now? So glad it's gone well for you!! Hopefully a week later the pain has reduced for you!

I had the opposite problem to you and waited years to finally have the op. At the moment I am euphoric - and the thrill of being so much smaller is outweighing the fact that I can't rush around and do what I normally would.
The GA was a breeze and had no long lasting effects from that, the pain is more of a discomfort really BUT I would recommend waiting until you have no heavy lifting to do so that you can have the best recovery. There is the occasional 'twang' from where the nipple was originally and I'm assuming that is where the stalk is unsettled and that should settle down. I've been lifting stuff from knee height, keeping my elbows tucked in tight to minimise chest movement, but lifting stuff from the floor is a no no.
But the difference in my self esteem & general happiness is astounding and I would recommend having anything that makes you feel unhappy 'fixed'.
