Blisters on tongue

I will go to the GP but my 3 year old daughter complained earlier of a sore tongue so I asked to have a look and it's covered in blisters. Will attach photo. Any ideas? She's fine in herself but it obviously hurt when she tried to eat dinner this evening.

Could it be hand foot and mouth

Hand foot and mouth

Hand foot and mouth - I caught it off my toddler last year and it’s bloody painful, and was for several weeks!

Has she eaten anything very hot? Or licked anything?

B1rdinthebush · 17/07/2019 18:39

My kids get this sometimes. Once it was hand, foot and mouth, another time it was scarlet fever. They've also had it because of tonsilitus! So I wouldn't guess too much and just see what the GP says.

Well she's been at nursery all day and the staff there didn't mention anything; I can't believe they would serve food that was too hot.

From the responses it def sounds like hand, foot and mouth which can't be treated, can it? Shall I still make an appointment with the GP?
Scarlet fever sounds worrying. Thank you for taking the time to respond.

A quick google and it does look like scarlet fever. Will book drs appointment in the morning.

Did you go to the doctor?

Carpetburns · 18/07/2019 19:18

@Pastaagain78

Thanks for asking.

I didn't- when she woke up this morning, I kid you not, all of the blisters had vanished and she's been fine all day (and eaten loads- clearly making up for her missed dinner last night!!)

Utterly baffling- makes me think it maybe was a reaction to something, perhaps?
