Toddler proof oven hob knobs

Help please! How do you toddler proof oven hobs? Yesterday toddler nearly burnt done house by turning our new oven hobs on and a box that was ontop caught fire (literally only just moved in and boxes everywhere / I don't normally leave stuff on stove top!). Luckily I was there to stop any damage etc being caused.
I instantly ordered some clipsafe oven guards but they require the knobs to be taken off. It's a brand new oven and they do not come off so useless. Any other suggestions that don't require taking knobs off?

Stair gate on the door to the kitchen to make sure he can't wander into the kitchen unattended and watch him like a hawk while he's in there with you. Plus endless repetitions of "no, hot."

It doesn't last a huge amount of time as a phase, it just feels endless while you're in it.

unfortunately he can just climb over stairgates and would likely end up falling head first onto stone floor or knocking himself on sharp cupboard doors. plus the doors are too narrow to fit any and even the retractable ones don't deter him. they seem to act more as a fun game to climb (rolleyes)

You just never let them in the kitchen without you. Dd did the exact same thing at my parent’s house whilst I was house-sitting for them. I’d left a tea towel too close to the side and wasn’t concentrating on dd. First I knew of it was bloody great flames leaping up. Panic! There’s nowhere to put stair gates etc at theirs so I just had to keep an eye on her. Thankfully they grow out of it quickly! Don’t make too much of a fuss because then they become obsessed with them and won’t leave them alone.

Not sure if this just applies to electric cookers but.. Turn it off at the wall when not in use.
