Hello All,
I have a 5 year old daughter and I hope it isn't just me but I feel like I spend my days saying "no", stop that", "please listen", "please be good".
She is as good as gold at school, but for some reason when she is at home she doesn't listen and I am loosing the will to live sometimes. I have ordered a reward chart online but I don't know what else to do.
Thank you :)

Hi @MummytoMoo19, we're just bumping this thread for you in the hope that some Mumsnetters will be along shortly with some advice.

We've also moved this over to Parenting for you.

I found four and five to be the most difficult ages, worse than "terrible twos"! I find that the best thing to do is to try and answer in a positive way, so rather than "no, stop that" try to get her to come and help you with something or play a game. I also find it helps to try and imagine that someone else is listening!!

Agree with @Mamimawr, try to phrase the request as a positive.

I would also recommend the book 'How to Talk So Little Kids Will Listen'. The writing is very twee but the actual techniques and tricks are very useful.

Thank you ladies for the recommendations. I will definitely look for the book. I do try and keep positive and defuse the situation. but you know how kids can be, bless them. Just feel like a failure when it just carries on etc
