Isofix Vs isofit

What is the difference? We currently have a 0+ isofix seat. We are looking at the next size up for when DS is bigger, have seen one that is 0+,1,2,3 groups rear facing 0+ and 1 are isofix, then when converted to group 2 and 3 forward facing and isofit. What is isofit and why can't it be isofix at all stages? Am I going to have to faff around with the seatbelt? If so I'll look at something else, we've had a travel system from this brand though and like it. I've googled but I'm none the wiser.

Isofit seats are still fitted using the isofix points but the child is secured with the car seat belt rather than an in built 5 point car seat harness

Be aware that Isofit and Isofix are not the same thing. Isofit seats still makes use of the vehicle’s Isofix anchor points but, unlike Isofix, uses the vehicle’s built-in three-point seatbelt to restrain the child rather than the five-point belt built in to Isofix seats.

Ok, is that usual for group 2 and 3 or would you be looking for a harness all the way up?

High backed boosters don't use a harness so they use isofit. Harness is only suitable up to a certain weight anyway

The usual weight limit for a harness is 18kg although a few harness until 25kg. After that the seatbelt is used
