Hi all,

I got my son some shoes from Jojo maman bebe and bought size 4 for him based on the size guide they provide. Well the shoes are massive for his little feet. Are his feet small or are the sizes wrong? Any experiences please

I would go to Clarks and get measured properly in case he's got a different width size too. Jojo only stock F width.

I think that guide is a bit useless! My 17mo has size 4 feet.
Get him measured in Clark’s or kids schuh, you don’t have to buy any! I don’t massively rate Clark’s though my local one is rubbish but kids schuh was really good and I got him some little converse with straps which are supportive and comfortable without looking like the fugly ones Clark’s sell

Thats really helpful! Thank you

We use happy little soles. They measure every sole length to the mm so you can't go wrong really. Lovely shoes too.

Clarks aren't fugly at all. Just choose non-fugly ones. Converse etc don't come in different widths which is really important for growing feet.

Converse et al are also just scaled down versions of an adult shape shoe which doesn't suit a toddler's wedge-shaped foot.

Those sizes would be huge on my dd.... just about to turn 4 and a size 7. I guess it must be a very vague average!

Winterfellismyhome · 12/07/2019 17:37

I went to clarks and got him measured. Hes a 3f at 12 months so that size guide isn't accurate for him Hmm

Is he walking yet?

Winterfellismyhome · 12/07/2019 19:01

Hes only taken a couple of steps but nothing consistent

I really wouldn't bother with shoes until he's properly walking. They grow out of them so quickly

DappledThings · 12/07/2019 21:16

Advice is not to have shoes till they have been properly walking for at least 4 weeks.

Lazypuppy · 13/07/2019 15:06

My dd is 18months and is only just in size 4.

Always go to clarks and get them measured.

I buy their roamer shoes as theybhave softer soles while she is still learning to walk

Cutesbabasmummy · 13/07/2019 20:32

Jo Jo shoes come up massive! However. You shouldn't buy shoes until they have been walking confidently on their own for 6 weeks.

Lazypuppy · 14/07/2019 09:20

I don't understand the waiting 6 weeks thing....how sre they supposed the practise walking outside with no shoes on?

There are different types of shoes with very soft bases which are designed for when they are roaming/cruising.

Also, kids have to learn to walk in shoes as it is different to bare feet

Cutesbabasmummy · 14/07/2019 09:42

In this weather they can walk in the garden in just socks and bare feet. Kids need to be walking confidently before their feet are put into shoes - Clark's will give you this advice. Just tottering is not confident walking. My son took his first steps in the winter. We just let him.walk.inside only for a few months until he could walk without falling over or holding on to us. Then we bought him shoes and he was off straight away. He didn't have any trouble adapting. I would really advise barefoot shoes if possible - eg. Bobux. They have thinner flexible soles giving kids greater feedback and balance.

Lazypuppy · 14/07/2019 10:19

@Cutesbabasmummy yes Clarks recommended their roaming shoes for my 18month old dd who has just started cruising around the house.
