Please tell me anything that helped your baby with colic. Can't stand seeing my 4 week old inconsolable.

Colief. Made a big difference after a few weeks on infacol. Also legs cycling and bringing knees up to tummy (lots of YouTube videos). Regular gripe water and tiger in the tree hold. It's really fucking hard, you have all my sympathy!

Why1990 · 11/07/2019 20:07

Thanks @Jenda, where can I get colief from? Is it the chemist? I'm using infacol for the last few days and just started the gripe water today but he's had his worst evening yet. Will look at the YouTube videos, thank you Smile

I hate to say it be coleif and cuddles. If he's bottle fed look at dr browns bottles.

Perhaps cake or crisps for your sanity and Netflix.

If it's nice out, try a stroll too - sometimes the air seemed to help my little one.

I promise it gets better - for both of you.

Colief from chemists and most supermarkets. It's not cheap but it is worth it in my opinion. Hopefully we can wean her off it soon. The HV told me that infacol builds up so the key is to make sure they have it every feed and double the dose if necessary. Just try to remember that it will pass although I know it's awful.

Gripe water was the only thing that helped mine. He is EBF (point blank refusal to take a bottle)

I used to sit up holding him every night from about 1am as that was the only way he could sleep without being in pain.

You have my sympathies, it is brutal.

He's 16 weeks now and I can happily say that by week 9 there had been a marked improvement by week 11 it disappeared overnight.

Sending hugs, it's awful xx

I have posted this link on many of the colic threads - apologies if you have read it. I think it makes a lot of sense.

Using a dummy. Using a sling. Cutting out dairy (turns out he was cmpa)
Rule out reflux. Tiger in the tree hold. Ensuring regular naps (in the car if necessary) as an overtired baby is a miserable baby! Good luck- it is the worst but it soon becomes a distant memory!

ArisaMiura3 · 15/07/2019 22:12

Agree with surreygirl1987 that you should rule out reflux. We also thought DD had colic until we realised that she had silent reflux and was in pain, worse during the evenings. I still believe Infacol made reflux worse as it brought violent wet burps out with acid. Gripe water and Colief had no effect (when we thought it was colic/gas/lactose intolerance) . Gaviscon did work.

surreygirl1987 · 15/07/2019 23:29

Also I'm of the opinion that colic is a symptom (or collection of symptons) rather than a diagnosis. I hate when doctors just say 'it's colic, they'll grow out of it.' If there's any way that three or so o
months of screaming can be avoided, do whatever you have to do! ❤

we used dentinox colic drops (in feeds if bottle fed) and used the tommee tippee anti colic bottles. I feel really mean saying it, but if she was having a screaming fit that no amount of cuddles would fix i used to just put my earphones in and carry her round the house, it helped keep me sane on the days when she would scream all day and night
