School holiday childcare.

I'm recently seperated and really wondering how people cover childcare during school holidays? So far I've taken spring half term as holiday, have 2 weeks booked for summer and October half term booked off which leaves me 2 days. I have bank holidays off too hence 22 days. Obviously this leaves 9 weeks of holiday where there is no family support do others take unpaid leave or use holiday clubs? If holiday clubs are costs split 50/50 whatever?

”just seemed a bit unfair getting a sudden rather large bill or have to take another 2 weeks of the holidays off unpaid.”

Presumably the same would have been true had you and your ex still been together though? Sometimes things change with late notice. £50 a day does seem very expensive though.

The fair thing to do is split the holidays 50/50 and whoever has the kids it’s their responsibility to cover the cost of child care if you can’t take annual leave. So for the summer holidays it’s 3 weeks each since you already have 2 weeks annual leave you only need to pay for 1 week of child care.
Is there an option to change working hours during the holidays at all?

Sainsbury's Active Kids is £7.50 per child per day, including lunch. But they sell out fast.

youjust yy our Sainsburys club sold out almost overnight. I managed to book one session when they went on sale in May. But the time of finalised my annual leave 3 weeks later they'd all sold out. Result £50 a day holiday club instead of £15. Next year I'll book it as soon as it's available..
