4 week old upset

My baby is almost 4 weeks old. Since he was born he's been feeding every 2 - 3 hours and going down to sleep in between. He would fall asleep in my arms and then go down once asleep.
For the last few days he isn't settling well. He sleeps very little during the day and has moments where he's inconsolable.
At night time there hasn't been any change - he still has his bottles and then goes straight back into the crib to sleep.
I didn't experience this with my last child and wondering what could be upsetting him and how I can help him?

I had exactly the same thing with my boy. For the first few weeks he was a typical newborn - fed, slept, fed, slept etc but once he hit 3/4 weeks he started not sleeping and being quite inconsolable throughout the day. Was fine at night still. I looked into many things including reflux, colic, milk intolerance etc but thankfully after a couple of weeks things got better and better. I did find a lot of his crying was overtiredness because he wasn't sleeping so I started playing white noise and swaddling for naps and this helped a lot. Once he was sleeping better during the day his mood improved a lot. It's like a viscous cycle I think!

Once they work out day and night they find it more difficult to sleep in the day. I used to watch mine like a hawk for three yawns in a row and then try to settle him for a nap.

The over tiredness is definitely making it worse. the longer he's awake, the harder it is to settle him. He had a really bad evening yesterday, then had a really good night.

@Rosebud1302
Do you use a YouTube video for the white noise sound?

@Yogurtcoveredricecake
I've heard people watching for yawns, can you explain how you do this please?

I downloaded a free app but you can use YouTube too. I also used to play lullabies on YouTube to help him go to sleep. Like those musical soothing ones. Yes we also used to watch for three yawns. One yawn I would start soothing and rocking him and if he kept yawning I knew it was time to properly try and put him down.
