So ladies what's your technique if you have one of those monsters who wont keep still for a nappy change?

We are going through a bit of a nappy battle at the mo :-(

Literally the only thing that works for us is to do it on the sofa in front of her favourite cartoons.
Lovely changing unit in nursery has become obsolete!

I put on silly voices. I have 3 different characters. She's so used to it now that she asks me to be her favourite character while doing it. May sound strange but works well for me and no more struggling! Plus we laugh and giggle so much, makes it fun 😊

I do ds while he stands playing with something. He hasn't led down since he was about a year old.

Tv on. They won’t be in nappies forever so itself limiting

Pull ups! We use the pampers pants.

katmarie · 08/07/2019 08:25

Pull ups and a toy they don't get to play with very often for us.

DC2 has been in pull ups since 12 months old bc she will no bloody stay still for nappy changes. I pin her down 1-2x a day for poo but if it's just wee I change her while she's standing/dancing/throwing something at DC1.

Handing them something that’s usually forbidden used to work for me! Engaging in a silly song sometimes worked too.

Oh God. I don't miss this bit.

I used to have to lie DD on the floor and (gently) put my leg over her - I am light and very flexible so it wasn't uncomfortable or hurting her but I felt terrible as I was effectively restraining her. However, it was the only way to do it.

I could do it in seconds very soon after I started doing it - Ninja speed - and it meant that we didn't have shit all over the floor.

TV was no use for us because she wanted to dance to the music.

She's nearly 6 now and still bloody dances everywhere.

Peppa pig on my phone.

Thanks, it's reassuring to know I'm not the only one who has a battle when it comes to nappy changes.

I've gone back to doing changes over my knee, DD doesn't like it but at least it is effective ;-)

Do you change on the floor, changing unit, sofa etc? I find now that unless I put her on my knee she escapes lol
