Having a 3 year old sleep on a mid sleeper?

So my son has turned 3 year old this month. He's currently in a extendable toddler bed. But I need to save space as I'm due a baby girl that will be sharing his room eventually ( it's a box room)
I want to start preparing now so could I put him in a mid sleeper at his age because I need to start creating space. Thanks in advance for any advice.

My DD went into the IKEA one at around 2 1/2. The recommendation is not until 6, but she saw the instructions when we were building it and wanted it high. I think if they're physically capable it should be fine. How is he on climbing frames etc?

Our first went into a mid sleeper by 3 and our second is just about to get one a few moths of 3rd birthday. Again the instructions say 6 years minimum age but I'd say it depends on the children...ours are very close relatives of the primate family!

Our dd is 3.10 and has recently gone into a mid sleeper - one of those ones with a ladder and a slide. She’s absolutely fine, it has a safety rail and we put a foam bed guard across the opening where the ladder is so she can’t roll out.

I'd say only once dry in the night as trying to change the bedding on them is a nightmare whilst pregnant - especially those middle of the night accidents!
Safety wise it's down to the child and what you are comfortable with.

I'd also say it's worth thinking about the practicalities, changing a higher bed is a pita and isn't something I'd want to do regularly in the middle of the night if he is prone to bed wetting!

We did, we carefully selected a suitable bed guard. He couldn’t actually climb in himself to start with and had to shout for us in the morning Grin. Would be different if you had someone more likely to try and jump out.

My v small 4yo is in the Ikea midsleeper but
We have an extra step stool in front of the ladder which feels much easier and safer for getting up and down. He has no issues getting out and toddling through to my bed half asleep in the middle of the night.
