Is there anything you specifically bought for your child's first birthday?? For some reason I can think of anything! Can anyone offer some ideas?

We bought DD a stuffed dog walker/ride on thing. She loved it and it was used a lot.

Little piano and seat.
Pop up tent with balls.
Ride along Walker.
Books.
Sit in (with seat) rocking horse.

Doesn't have to cost a lot. There are loads of interactive gifts starting from 20 quid.

We've got a summer baby so getting her a paddling pool Smile

Smart trike! DD loved hers and it was more fun than the pushchair

Mammatron · 28/06/2019 18:40

Sand pit, cosy coupe car, mini micro scooter (the one with the seat). I wanted to get things that would get lots of use out of, he's almost 4 now and still uses them all- definitely got my money's worth!!

a set of classic books. Beatrice potter for dd1 and Paddington bear for dd2.

no good age 1 but 5yo dd1 likes to comment when she sees them that she got them for her 1st birthday.

CoodleMoodle · 28/06/2019 20:11

DD got a Smart Trike for her first birthday. Plus a couple of little things (books, wooden puzzles, soft toys) that I'd collected through the year!

DS is getting a few new bits (some cars and musical instrument set), but nothing big like the trike because we still have DD's and he goes in that already.

bourbonbiccy · 28/06/2019 20:19

We got a smart trike, although more for me as its lighter, but he loves it.
A big paddling pool with sprinkler thingy over it.
A bouncing inflatable dinosaur from mothercare - other retails will sell
Rocking horse
Lock board (Melissa and dough)
My 1st remote control car - not a sit in one, one he controls
Wooden animal shapes (Melissa and Doug )
Orchard toys (1st words and other learning cards)

Not a lot, we had just moved for dd1 and by dd2 we had too much stuff

TerribleTwosPhase · 28/06/2019 21:37

Agree with the smart trike, we got DD one and she loves it! She doesnt love being in her pram now but loves being in that.

Napqueen1234 · 28/06/2019 21:39

Trike, little ball pit/paddling pool and some new books :) we have a summer baby and I never buy her presents so Christmas and birthday she does get a few gifts along with clothes she needs for the next season!

GMtoBe · 28/06/2019 21:47

We got DD a tunnel and a pop up tent with balls in it and a wooden activity table which was the right height for her to use sat on the floor. Then she got loads from other people including things like a scuttlebug, duplo, clothes, books, in the night garden dolls, bath toys etc

skankingpiglet · 28/06/2019 22:00

A play kitchen is an excellent investment and can be used as soon as they pull themselves to stand.
Other things DDs got for their first birthdays and still use now (at 5 and 3yo) are a play tunnel, scuttlebug, classic board books (Hungry caterpillar, bear hunt, gruffalo etc). They also got a lot of use from a wheely bug, click clack track, and toot toot drivers (buy yourself ear plugs if you get this!) but youngest has recently outgrown these.
DD2 had the mini micro scooter at 18m with the seat (as mentioned above). In hindsight this would have been fine from 12m, and she is still using it now with the standard T bar handle.

A push along cart thing, the kind that come with wooden bricks. Little one can use it to cart stuff around/help her toddle. See tiny kids with them at the park with them all the time, having the time of their lives. That's what I'm getting for my next one's first for sure.
