Chicco Next 2 Me worth it?

MumApr18 · 28/06/2019 09:54

Pregnant with number 2 - with number 1 we used a Moses basket and swinging crib and, once he had outgrown it, he went straight into his big cot side-carred to my bed. I didn't know that Next 2 Me's existed!

Are they worth the price tag? How long do they last? Any good cheaper alternatives? I really would have been a godsend having it last time with a c section scar that kept bursting but I could/did cope without it.

Ours was definitely worth it. We got our on special offer from mothercare and it was so much easier to feed and then put down then learning over to put in a Moses basket (which we also had for our first)

DS2 was small but in it until 9months.

MumApr18 · 28/06/2019 10:04

Thanks @SecretLimonadeDrinker. How much was it on special offer if you don't mind me asking? Cheapest I've seen is around £190 - we are trying to keep costs to a minimum this time around!

Ours was worth it. Used it till DD was 8 months, at which point she climbed out onto our bed and we realised she needed a proper crib

Yes absolutely 100% worth every single penny and you can sell it afterwards.

zoClueless · 28/06/2019 10:17

The basic next to me design is £139 not £190. There is a more advanced one which is more expensive. We got the basic one when DS was 6 weeks old and I really like it. Was worth the purchase (we used some vouchers towards it).

IWouldPreferNotTo · 28/06/2019 10:19

We bought ours second hand for £60 and never bothered with a moses basket or anything else. We didn't attach it to the bed and just used it as a cot.

It's brilliant as it packs down so small you can put it in the car and take it anywhere.

emmaluggs · 28/06/2019 10:22

Mine was worth it, as I breastfed I didn’t even need to get out of bed for feeds, and I could easily sleep resting my hand on his tummy to help him sleep.

I did get mine 2nd hand as there were loads for sale, I machine washed the cot sides etc and bought a brand new mattress came to less than half the price

albus55 · 28/06/2019 10:26

100% worth it and I'll use it again with my next.

In terms of price, have a look for second hand ones. We got a second hand one that was only used for a couple of weeks because their baby didn't like it. Was £80 and perfect condition. We just bought a new mattress.

albus55 · 28/06/2019 10:26

Should also say, she was in it for about 8/9 months before moving to her own room so got our moneys worth.

Hairwizard · 28/06/2019 10:26

Defo worth it. Dd was in hers til 10mths. Didnt plan it that way though. And i had bought it for bfing but never took the side down🤣
Fb marketplace you should find second ones for sale. I bought new then sold it on.

MumApr18 · 28/06/2019 10:30

Fab, thank you everyone for your input! We will definitely breastfeed (well definitely try to) so it sounds like it will be invaluable. I spent many an hour with my boob out dangling over the Moses basket with DC1 Grin

Is it definitely ok buying something like that second hand? Are the new mattresses fairly easy to come by?

Happy2be · 28/06/2019 10:32

Look for second hand one and you just then need to buy a new mattress 😊 there is a bundle for the chicco on the bounty app think it's 199 but you get a few different things with it.

SecretLimonadeDrinker · 28/06/2019 21:12

@MumApr18 I think we spent around £140. John Lewis also have offers/price match so it's worth keeping an eye on.

Overprotective007 · 28/06/2019 21:17

We have a cheaper babylo ( I think) which is a copy. Love it. Love not having to lift a baby up high to put him in during the night.
My baby's 3 months and he'll get another few more months at least so it has longivity (unlike clothes, which I cant keep up with).
Im glad we didn't spend much on it. I've spent a lot on the bouncer and high chair though.

labyrinth · 28/06/2019 21:22

I had a Babylo crib which is basically the same but only £90. Worth every penny!

Asiama · 28/06/2019 21:34

I love our next 2 me. There are a number of brands and when I did my research, the next 2 me was the biggest one. DS is 7 months and will be in it for at least another month. It is great for breastfeeding in the night as I can roll over and flop my boob in and carry on dozing while DS feeds. Even when not breastfeeding, I would still recommend it as it's easier to settle baby when crying by just sticking your arm out, rather than getting up.

DailyFailAreTwats · 28/06/2019 23:07

I'm selling one for £90! Great condition, only needs a new mattress for a new baby. Let me know if you want to know more.

moonlight1705 · 28/06/2019 23:11

We had ours from ebay for £60 and only paid £10 in cash as used nectar points for the rest.

Obviously a new mattress was needed but it's not too bad a cost.

Our DD is a big baby but she will still be in it until 6 months.

MumApr18 · 29/06/2019 08:04

Thank you so much everyone, looks like it won't break the bank after all and will be so much more helpful with potential c section scar and breastfeeding. Now to convince OH Grin

In our area you see lots of them on Facebook marketplace. I got mine for £40 then bought a new mattress on eBay for £25. We washed the fabric parts of the cot in the washing machine and used Dettol on the metal parts.

Creas35 · 29/06/2019 10:24

There’s a Facebook shop called Jolly’s Tots they have their own store (independent) but they sell a lot on fb like refurbs for a lot cheaper and do bundles. I haven’t purchased from them but I know they are legit and it seems like good offers. I have a next to me (gifted) and she sleeps amazing compared to my first. I got the sheets from mothercare think £8 for both.
