Maybe I'm an over worrier...But I dont like to leave the window open even when it's on the latch...(When it's open on the latch barely any air gets in anyway.) Also dont like the idea of plugging a fan in as I feel my son (2 & a half) will play with it...He has quite a small room...And i worry hes too hot at night...What can I do?...Obviously I've dressed him appropriately & gave him thinner cooler bedding. But he still seems fidgety & warm in this weather...

Leave his bedroom door open? No blanket?

NameWithChange · 26/06/2019 15:26

I have a dyson bladeless fan in my sons room. We have had it for years - it was a good investment. Child and pet safe. My DD understands that if he should touch it or the plug it will be taken away. He has never tried as he loves it so much.

Open the window! What do you think will happen? You need a through draft so door open as well.

Redwinestillfine · 26/06/2019 15:31

We have fans which we put on top of wardrobe ( with wires tucked behind so they can't be pulled down)

Thankyou all..I do leave his door open...I worry with the window that he will play with it & open it somehow and fall out!Ridiculous?Maybe...But I do.Or jam his fingers in it (I'm the same with the door which is wedged open with a door stop) he only has drawers in his room...so he would be able to reach a fan.Plugs are covered though...so I may just tell him again & again he mustn't touch it & put a fan in there.See how it goes. Thanks so much il look up that Dyson model now Smile

Also the gap in the window is about an inch.It really doesnt get much in...I opened it the last few nights & just told myself to stop being stupid. And it literally made no differance.

Windows are high up, how would he play with it?

How old is your ds? My dd has a fan in her room, and if its really hot the window open too and the door to create a through draft

DearTeddyRobinson · 26/06/2019 17:52

You can get child locks for windows which restrict how far they can open.

My3boys9910 · 26/06/2019 17:55

Not in my sons room...His window sill is head height...Wouldnt need a lot to reach out.He could push his toy box under there & stand on it.My older 2 have done the craziest things in their younger years that I've learnt from.I just dont want to take the chance...He is 2&a half.

We had restrictions on the window and a fan in the landing directed into the room. Dts could not be trusted not to wrap the cable around each other!

My3boys9910 · 26/06/2019 18:31

@babysharkah exactly my point...Cables round the neck...Dragging it off & smashing it...The list of possibilities makes me not sleep at night lol!...My oldest 2 were 20 months appart and shared a room. They climbed on their drawers and pulled a shelf down. They used to drag mattresses off their bed...My oldest was only 2 at the time & got over stair gets...They are 9 & 12 now...And having another small on le around brings back those memories of my terrible 2 when they were young haha
