Tremors in 6 year old

Had a phone call from school today, they said DS's hand tremors fairly frequently.

I've not noticed at home, we did a jigsaw and played Lego after school, absolutely fine.

He struggles with handwriting and school think it could be connected.

He eats really well so probably not blood sugar related, doesn't seem anxious although recently a bit of low level bullying from his "best friend"

Will book a GP appointment but in the meantime, any suggestions?

He's not long turned 6 and will be in Y2 in Sept.

Is it just one hand? Sounds like it comes and goes? Does it only happen when he’s trying to do something taking fine control or does it happen at rest? What’s his balance and coordination like generally? What’s his diet like?

Hi
Doc check for sure bless her
That would be the first thing for me personally
I don’t think it’s advisable to give advice on here as to what it could be ... that could lead you to unnecessary worry ... as well intentioned as some advice can be of course
Good luck please keep us posted

My DD is the same age and has got a slight tremor, it doesn't affect her writing but for example if she's holding something up to show me, her hand shakes.
The school aren't concerned and neither is her GP but still doesn't explain why it happens Confused

Jade308 · 25/06/2019 21:58

Just one hand apparently I've not noticed it at all at home though.

Not necessarily just when griping things, otherwise in fully health no other issues at all. Motor skills fine aside from writing.

Will make a GP's appointment in the morning.

I wouldn’t be worried based on what you’ve said here. It might be worth getting him checked by a Chiro/osteo for neck tension or muscle tension in the arm/wrist (once GP has seen).

Sorry you don't have answers for your DD Miss Polly. But good I guess docs and school are not worried

It's a pain because I hate being fobbed off without an answer but as long as the professionals aren't concerned I try not to stress.

Hope you get some answers OP!

Jade308 · 25/06/2019 22:19

Thanks Miss Polly, also would quite like answers! Will let you know

Hey @Jade308 my DD is 8 and has tremors and tics, they come and go. Started a year ago, GP says they are normal, will heighten if stressed/anxious and will probably go away with age.

Last years they were really bad, constantly present and several different types. This year much less noticeable.

She has gone through several phases of hand tremors specifically, again, they come and go.

I am certain GP will reassure you.

Jade308 · 25/06/2019 22:26

Thanks Quick, much appreciated.
