I saw a thread yesterday no idea where it's gone. But I'm in the same situation
My child is nearly 1, is on 6-12 months milk and will not drink cows milk have tried mixing it etc
So if worst case she stays on baby milk shall I just keep them on 6-12 or change back to stage 1??

Keep persevering with cows milk, have you tried mixing it with formula? Slowly adding more and more milk? Heating it up so its warm?

Lazypuppy · 24/06/2019 17:15

Try a different new bottle/cup?

flylikeabirdx · 24/06/2019 17:27

Yeah I've gave her it in her formula and it's like she just knows it's in there, I tried using a sippy cup with warm milk in it, she didn't want to use it, so I went back to the bottle and put milk in that and she still wasn't interested so I gave her her formula in the end and she drank it straight away, not sure how to go around it she seems very against drinking it

I just put the milk in dd sippy cup and put it on the floor. She used to whinge a bit then crawl over and drink it.

Now she drinks milk more like a drink instead of downing it in one like her bottle

They can stay on stage 1 - the next stages are just a marketing strategy.

Does your DC eat a lot of food as well as drinking milk?

flylikeabirdx · 24/06/2019 19:32

Thank you!@Lazypuppy

Okay shall I go back to stage one if I really can't get her to drink it? She eats a lot yes😁and drinks water. Even though she's on stage 2 and has been since 6 months x

DD hated cows milk. She flat out refused to even go near it until she was about 18 months. We just kept her on Stage 1 until one day she just decided cows milk was OK after all Hmm. I did a lot of reading about whether she should go on the follow on milk, and basically concluded they're just a marketing gimmick because they're not allowed to advertise a breast milk substitute, but can advertise 'follow on' milk.

DD1 was EBF and refused formula and cows milk. I was going mad pumping when I was back at work and had tried everything to get her to take cows milk/ formula. The only thing that worked (and definitely wouldn’t be advised by a health visitor!) was giving her chocolate nesquik and gradually diluting it till it was pure milk - it took about a week. Not proud of it but it worked!

flylikeabirdx · 24/06/2019 19:57

Ah so there's no difference to stage 2?? I should of stuck with stage 1😁 I thought you had to go up in stages as they grow 😬

There's no real difference between stage 1 and 2 but often you can get multi buy deals on stage 2 so for us it worked out cheaper.

FWIW my DD wouldn't have cows milk mixed with formula so just gave her cow's milk one day and that was it. I reckon mixing it tastes weird.

flylikeabirdx · 24/06/2019 20:08

@Bobbiepin yeah I see what you mean! They sometimes do 2 for 12 where I am, and I can imagine but wouldn't know as I wouldn't dare try it😁😂😂
