Postpartum periods not returning to normal?

Willow4987 · 23/06/2019 11:33

I posted this on the postnatal health section but there isn’t much footfall there

So here goes...

My LB is 10 months old and my period returned 8 weeks post partum however they aren’t like they were before

They’re very heavy (at the beginning and more than before) and longer

But what’s concerning me more is that the length between them is varying massively month to month

I used to be exactly 28 days like clockwork

Now it’s anything from 30 to currently 36 days (I’m still waiting for this month)

I suppose my question is (before I go to the Dr), does it take a while for things to settle into a bit more of a pattern and how long it took other people to return to normal?

I'm the same - 30-36 days between periods. I spoke to the Dr and they said it's in the normal range and providing no pain or spotting it's nothing to be concerned about.

Thanks yogurt. Did they say if it would stabilise at any point?

They said that might be my range now and it's fine. My Dr said they'd only be concerned if I hadn't had one for 6 months! I'm tracking mine on Clue app so I can keep an eye on it.

Yes, they can be different after baby. Mine were always regular but they were consistently heavier at least for a couple years (now I have the coil anyway so they are even heavier but it’s related to the coil).

Mine never used to be regular, anything between 35 and 48 days. Now since giving birth they’re every 31 days. Human bodies are so weird aren’t they!

Still heavy and extremely painful though Sad

@Yogurtcoveredricecake DS is nearly seven months and I've not had one yet, I just thought it was just breast feeding. Should I see the doctor?!
