My SD is 12, and recently started her periods. At this age would you expect them to change her own pads and know when to wash? Thanks

I was 9 when I started my periods and no one has ever changed my pads for me!! So uh yes at 12 she can get herself to high school independently so she can change her own pads.

Washing wise it can be a bit more hit n miss at this age and perhaps some reminders of showering are needed.

Who would change her pads for her if she doesn't? [Confused]

But she might need advice on managing her periods, eg how often to change pads, or on hygiene.

My mum showed me once I think. Told me to make sure I throughly wipe, change knickers before bed and always shower on period days. Not with soap though.

She was very much on the "you are a young lady" route now so made me feel as though I was really grown up.

Oh! And the best thing my mum did.. she bought an old black gym bag for me. Kept if next to my wash basket and that's why any thing went if it was stained. That way I wouldn't be embarrassed and she could sort it pronto.

Yes to changing pads. Possibly need a reminder / encouragement to wash.

Seriously, OP? Are you a period troll? Any relation to our poo troll?

MAXnot73 · 23/06/2019 08:33

Well she is 12. Does she normally wash? If not why not? If so, why has she suddenly stopped?

stepmuma101 · 23/06/2019 08:34

Well her mum does assist her in pad changes, I just wondered if anyone else had advice. Thanks
