Parents of 5 year olds - party bag help!

DS is having a whole-class party. I'm trying to organise party bags and would like your help. For the most part, party bag fillers have been totally disregarded by DS after the initial excitement of looking in his party bag. I have tried to convince him to give out a book instead of a party bag but he's adamant he'd like to do party bags. What would be your child's top party bag filler? DS likes the big punch balloons and tattoos - not convinced girls would like these overly and I'm not getting into girls' bags and boys' bags. Considering:

  • party poppers
  • gliders
  • punch balloons
  • tattoos
Thoughts/suggestions very welcome.

Sounds good...big punch balloons and tattoos are awesome they have and always be (also excellent idea not doing boys and girls party bags don't bother thinking about girls won't like this and vice versa they're kids u can make their day with boxes).

Superlooper · 22/06/2019 22:09

My girl would love punch balloon and tattoos

Bubbles? Sweets. Punch balloons sound great.

My 6yo loves a bath so I got dinosaur shaped bath bombs from poundland fir his party bags. They went down a storm with bits and girls.

Tidypidy · 22/06/2019 22:15

Boys not bits!

sheshootssheimplores · 22/06/2019 22:18

Just a slice of cake.

ThinkIveFoundYourMarbles · 22/06/2019 22:21

Stickers
Mini colouring book
Crayons
Bouncy ball
Small packet of sweets
Glo bands
Very small picture book
Novelty pen

Pound shops or The Works tend to have multibuy options that help keep costs down.

I do tattoos, pencils and a bag of sweets. Nothing too plastic trash as I hate it!

ThinkIveFoundYourMarbles · 22/06/2019 22:23

Sorry, that was just a list of random suggestions - not saying one party bag should have all those things!!

Morgan12 · 22/06/2019 22:24

I'd do sweet cones instead and maybe some cake. Everything else gets binned here.

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 22/06/2019 22:24

Piece of cake is fine and a little thank you note, absolutely no plastic tatt, definitely no balloons, dc definitely don’t need or want anymore useless rubbish in their lives, the gift bags are only to impress/ annoy the parents.

Maybelle15 · 22/06/2019 22:24

The julia donaldson songbird phonics collection is good, you get 36 books in the pack and you could let the children choose on the way out so they get the right reading level. All the parties in my childs reception class have ended with cake and a book

Vinorosso74 · 22/06/2019 22:24

My DD is older now but she has always loved those punch balloons and tattoos. A small.bag of sweets of chocolate like a Freddo is good too.

Fevertree · 22/06/2019 22:25

My 5yo dd would love a punch balloon and tattoos x

MyOtherProfile · 22/06/2019 22:26

Ditch the plastic. Give them a packet of seeds each. Or something related to the party. What kind of party are you having?

Canyousewcushions · 22/06/2019 22:26

Punch balls and tattoos would be loved in my girly household.

We did snap bands recently which were very well received. Also did glo sticks which were inexpensive and much appreciated. Other one that went down really well were neon rave glasses, though they did also tie into the party theme.

Bubbles are also always popular here.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 22/06/2019 22:27

Both mine (girls and boys) would like a punch balloon and tattoos. Also mini sweets so a mini Smarties box or similar. And they love those teeny bouncy balls. We end up taking ours on holidays for the pool/beach

Jamhandprints · 22/06/2019 22:28

Punch balloon, tattoo, sweets or lollipop, some bubbles and a piece of cake. They'll be delighted with that. My son's 5th bday bags had dinosaur gro eggs (box of 12 for under £10) stickers and sweets. Boys and girls loved them.

SuzieQ10 · 22/06/2019 22:47

My DD loves punch balloons and tattoos! That would be a big hit. She also likes those creatures / little men that you chuck at a wall and they clime their way down.

Simple party bags go down well with mine.. sweets, chocolate, a balloon, a little rubbish toy or a mini game. Perfect.

Book, not so much. She is an avid reader and we visit the library weekly - but not as treat in a party bag.

Like the seeds idea! My DD loves growing things.

SuzieQ10 · 22/06/2019 22:48

**climb!

Di11y · 23/06/2019 16:01

I did a Mr men book (50 for £30 and enough for another party) and those pencils where you swap the nibs for a different colour.

plus a pack of Haribo and you're all set.
