Hungry baby formula

I have a hungry baby on my hands, the health nurse has suggested that he might need to go on the hungry baby formula. Has anyone found this has worked for their child?
And how often was the baby feeding before switching over?
Last question - did you find it affected the baby's bowels etc switching over?

What age is your baby and how much are they drinking? Hungry milk is harder to digest and can cause constipation. The is also no evidence that it makes any difference. It has the same calories as first milk too

Why has your HV suggested this? Is your baby massively above the 100th centile line? Unless there is a genuine concern with them being hugely overweight, I would ignore and just feed them. If they are hungry, there is usually a good reason why. Babies really don't need to be put on a diet and can usually (a few medical conditions aside) regulate their own caloric and fluid intake. Unless your baby is 6+ months, it's still very normal for them to be feeding every 2-3 hours with eventually some longer stretches at night from 3-4 months. More than likely what you're doing is absolutely fine and I wouldn't buy into the marketing hype.

As above, hungry baby milk is essentially trying to fill them up for longer by making it harder for them to digest (from what I've read). Doesnt aound very comfortable, so seems a bit of a mean thing to do unless there's a very real reason (never heard of one myself). Shouldn't hungry babies should just be fed when they're hungry?

My LO is 5 months and feeds every 2-3 hours through the day. He's on the slim but tall side as well. Don't see anything wrong with it - keeps him hydrated and energised for growing and learning :)

Thanks for all the responses.

I had always heard people saying before that they wouldn't use the hungry baby formula and now I know the reasons Shock

I'll keep going the way we are.

I think the health nurse suggested it as he is a large baby and although sometimes he'll go 2-3 hours between feeds, other times he requires back to back bottles and seems starving

Back to back bottles? How old is he and how big are his bottles?
